I'm wanting to fit MFSW controls to my car. What parts will I need? It's a 2008 Pirelli GTI in manual....
-
Not sure where you're based but Eddie-NL is your man for the job
-
Your best bet is to invest in a full Multi-Function steering wheel and not just the buttons. It is the easiest option. However, you will need to upgrade your steering wheel control module too.
I've gone with the steering wheel option myself and got @Eddie-NL (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2345) to fit and code. However, if you are in the London or Nottingham areas then @RetroRaz (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6494) will also be able help.

Also, what HU do you have? And do you have the highline display in your car? Both will make the MFSW more useful.

You will need the MFSW the MFSW control module and a bit of coding.
-
If it's dsg you may only need the controls themselves

Thanks for the replys....
My car is manual and doesn't have a high line display either...
I'll keep an eye out for a cheap MFSW and swap the parts over like you have Kam88!

it's also worth searching for a mfsw from i think a 2008/9 scirocco as they are the same as the mk5.
I bought one which cost me £100 inc the airbag
-
What's the procedure for changing wheel. Mainly how to disarm the airbag? I don't wanna blow it up in my face lol
-
I doubt the steering wheels are the flat bottom gti ones from a Rocco and no way you get that for £100 unless the seller didn't know what he was selling.

buy a mfsw from a non gti round wheel they go really cheap i managed to buy one for £45 from a accident car and swapped bits over and sold the wheel for £20 so worked out a bargain :signLOL:

Anyone have the part numbers for the slipring and airbag loom needed to convert a manual 2008 GTI Pirelli to MFSW?
-
Anyone?
-
In a 2008 you'll probably have the correct parts for just putting on the wheel, I did in my R32 manual, the airbag loom should come with the steering wheel
-
Hi Jimmy as per my earlier post, I bought this MFSW which was advertiser as from a scirocco, it cost me £112 including postage.

dont forget that the Pirelli has yellow stitching so any wheel you buy will likely be red or black stitching. best just swapping over the parts and retain the wheel itself :happy2:
-
Yeah, 100% keeping/using the original wheel...
-
How will I know if I can use my existing slipring and airbag loom?
