I think B8 shocks are shorter so does sound a little odd. New dampers will be firmer and may take a while to bed in so go drive it some more miles and see if it doesn't lower down once things get settled. Although do check you installed everything correctly and that the dampers are seated correctly!

Mine did this with VW Racing springs and B8 dampers. After having the B8's fitted it raised the car back to where it was when I originally had the springs fitted - over time my OEM dampers had become old and the car ride height dropped from a sensible 20mm drop to something like 50mm - so much the car looked like it was slammed on coils  rather than just the most minimal lowering springs I could find.

How many miles were on your dampers when you changed them out? Could it just be your old dampers were sagging a bit like mine were?
Mine were on just over 70k and had lost most damping effect - the car felt like there was no compression left in the dampers.
This is how mine sat the day after the B8's were fitted to the VWR springs;
