Evening ladies and gents, I have a bit of a heating/fan problem
The water temp needle comes upto 90°C and stays there. The cabin heats up fine to whatever temerature you set, then once it's at that temp the fan still seems to run because I can hear it and see that the fan dial is set to 3 or 4. While I can tell the fan is running no air comes from the vents. I'm not very mechanically minded. If it makes a difference I have the duel climatic contol. Please help guys.

I'd thr dash top vent closed???. as I had that problem before realising I had to close the top vent

You mean the vent that looks like a speaker, facing staight up from the top of the dash? I've always got that open. I hope that is the problem. Do you know why it needs to be closed?

Yes that's the one mate.
The reason I believe is that's only for the screen clearing and when shut off the main vents work as I only found out a week ago and I've been driving the car for 2 months on a regular now.
Hope mine isn't faulty :scared:

All my vents work fine tho, until the cabin is at the temp I want, then it all goes wrong and stops warming. If I drive for an hour the car heats up in the first 10 to 12 mins, then goes back to being cold.

That could be your thermostat.
When did you have your pollen cabin filter replaced?.

I would get the vehicle scanned with VCDS as that sounds like the gear drive has dropped off one of the ventilation motors - see if anyone is local to you http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,88875.0.html
This is worth a read http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=56052.0
