Title: eBay sports cat any good?
Post by: Sheeny94 on December 12, 2015, 02:56:43 pm
Hi all,

Looking at upgrading my exhaust system

I'm not made of money so always looking out for a bargain as long as the quality is good

Have seen the below on eBay and wondered if anyone had any experience with one or similar. Almost seems too good to be true as a sports cat from somewhere like miltek is £600+. So will this be mot friendly and good quality or fall to bits and fail mot?

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F15%2F12%2F12%2Fc44749d3eb3991702f397cdf9cfa07da.jpg&hash=e8f68b76f857615cb4fad9ddca3a37af9a494898)

Thanks in advance for any advice

Usually... You get what you pay for in my opinion. Save up and get the tried and tested options. Miltek, BCS, Scorpion type stuff

From what I've read you're probably ok with a decat off ebay, as it's just a pipe. But the cheaper sports cats are likely to degrade and fail much sooner than one from the likes of BCS or Milltek - due to the quality of the metals used within the cat.

Always felt the same but thought it was worth an ask

Thanks for the info mate looks like I'll get saving for a branded one
