Been thinking of upgrading from my ed 30 to a m6 or mk 7 R or even a mk7 gti gti, done a bit of home work and now not sure if it would be worth it these are the power to weigh calculations
Golf r mk7 292 bhp, kerb weight 1495 KG = 196 bhp
Golf r mk6 267 bhp kerb weight 1541 KG = 174 bhp
Golf gti mk7 220 bhp kerb weight 1402KG = 157 bhp
Ed30 stage 1 aprox 290 bhp kerb weight 1332KG, = 218 bhp my current ride
Was just wanting other opinions, I know I will get all wheel drive with the R and a remap would take the mk7 up to around 350 bhp to give 235 bhp power to weight, just think it is a lot of money to spend for not a lot of gain, what are other peoples views who have the R or new mk7 gti, is it worth the extra spend for drivability thanks

If i had the funds i'd snap a mk6 R up...they're slowly dropping in price too

I do agree , don't do traffic lights or quarter mile shoots either, my ed30 is a manual though so wil be looking to uprate the clutch very soon, and the mk7 r is the better bet than the mk6 for the reasons you gave , mk6 r have dropped in price, seen one for £15k advertised,

i have an Ed30 with some subtle mods, its a beautiful car. My pal has a 7R, which is a beautiful car too. I really like the 7R's, but I just can't justify the significant extra ££££ for one.

Plus the ED30 is a Special Edition so gives it something extra special above just the stats :happy2:
My plan will be to upgrade at some point but will not be selling the ED30 and keeping it as my hobby car so to speak :jumping:

that sounds like a plan, just love mine think i would regret it if i sold it like i did selling my mk1 gti few years back.
