Title: Coil Pack Recall on 2007 GTI and DSG Software
Post by: Nasir on December 14, 2015, 11:34:21 am
I just emailed VW in regard to the coil pack recall. My car is a 2007 '07' GTI and they said there are no recalls on this car.

What year do the recalls go up to? It's unlikely the coil packs have been changed, as it hasn't been to a VW dealership in the UK since 2011.

Also, how do I check that the DSG software is up to date? I have VCDS if that helps. I guess I need to know the latest firmware number?

Thanks

My 2007 had them replaced. Have you looked in the boot under the carpet. They usually stick a sticker under there.... the code was 28BF or something like that.

Nope, no code in the boot. Now to the painful task of convincing the dealer that it needs doing.

It was not actually a recall and be careful with some VW dealers as they do not check properly. Cannot remember the other word but the coilpack issue was classed under another terms. It still meant they changed them like a recall however. Mine was a 56 plate and got changed a few months ago.

I did find a page which had all the codes that needed changing if you had them. If you look on the coilpacks what is the code?

Thanks for the replies.

Just rang VW Customer Services who checked and confirmed it was done in 2012. Happy days.
