Title: Cost of fitting rear camera? Not OEM.
Post by: Matt81 on December 16, 2015, 04:45:35 pm
Hi Guys,

I'm looking to have the following (or something similar fitted).

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vw-GOLF-MK5-GOLF-MK6-GOLF-MK4-SCIROCCO-POLO-Rear-reversing-camera-013-/301373939334?hash=item462b495e86:g:pPsAAOSwY45UUiib

I have the Kenwood DNX520VBT head unit so have the input ready and can make it switch to this input on selecting reverse.

Would anyone on here (pref in the midlands) be willing to fit this for me?  If so how much?

Many thanks!

One wire will need to be fitted to the reverse switch wiring for it to auto screen on in reverse as my alpine had a purple wire for this.
If I were still in brum I would have done it. Stereo needs pulling out and trims need either pulling away or the wire being fed into the trim either way not a simple job and the boot trim also needs removing for wiring and drilling so you don't drill into wiring  :scared:

There's a guy in Bordesley green who caters for this behind green Lane opposite the morrisons next to the mosque. Just say bello sent you if you do go.

Thanks for the reply.

Fortunately I don't need the purple wire as reverse input already activates cam input.

I've seen you can get wireless cameras.

Wonder if this might be the way to go.

I'll look up your contact.

Cheers.

I have the kenwood unit and been meaning to do the same but everytime i think about the wiring all the way from the back make me stop thinking about the reverse cam.

I paid £11 for an identical looking camera from eBay, if you fancy saving some cash
