Firstly, I'm new to this forum and never used a forum in my life so I haven't a clue if this post is in the right "thread" or whatever its called so greatest apologies if I've messed up.
But to the issue, brought my first Mk5 golf gti 2 days ago, it's a beauty. But anyway I digress, the 12v cigarette lighter port doesn't work at all. The bloke who sold me it said "it doesn't work but I'm pretty sure it's just the fuse. So today of I pop to halfrauds to buy a few fuses. Checked my owners manual and a few posts on this forum to find which fuse number needed replacing. Anywho, changed the fuse with a brand new fuse. Still nothing. Now.. I pulled the actual piece out and well, I'll add a photo below. I don't know an awful lot about electronics in cars but it looks pretty dead.. Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Again apologies if the post is in the wrong place.
Okay I have no idea how to put a photo on... :ashamed:

Me forgots the magic words. .. Welcome to the forum :happy2:
The adding photos can be done via photobucket if you use this.
You need to go to share link and find
IMG (for forums, boards) copy and paste in this box and your in.
If you have an electrical tester with an earth lead, find a decent earth spot and switch ignition on and carefully poke the centre of the lighter socket with the probe and if the tester bulb doesn't light up you've got a bad un presuming the fuse is ok :happy2:
here's a picture I've uploaded for you as this is how it should look although this is plactic. plus + or positive terminal is the centre one.
