Title: ECP ED30/R32 Rear Lights
Post by: richtung on December 22, 2015, 09:54:39 am
Hi Guys,

Noticed the outer nearside rear light unit misting up on cold mornings on my ED30- i suspect this may be due to rear end damage the car suffered before i purchased it. (offside unit is fine and doesn't mist up).
I'm anticipating having to source a replacement outer unit. I noticed that Euro Car Parts stock Magneti Marelli branded units: http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/478444670/p/home (http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/478444670/p/home)

I know fellow members have purchased these and are happy with them, i just wanted to see if anyone had these with the original inners and if the cherry red colour matches the OEM ED30/R32 lights?

Thanks

Rich

How much are they from VW?  If they're expensive, I would personally get 2 of the ECP ones to ensure a good colour match.   Magnetti Marelli made the OEM MK4 R32 'Ocean' style lights, so are legit, but you never know with ECP stuff.

Just checked with the dealers - £65 for the outer - not as expensive as i thought (thought they would carry the ED30 Premium!).

May be worth paying the extra £20 (over the ECP unit) to get a 100% matching unit (plus 2 year warranty).

EDIT: just double checked, its £80 inc VAT per unit from the dealers - so almost twice the price of the ECP unit.....

make sure the screws holding the lights in are fully tight

Thanks. will do.

Just seen a diagram of the rear light unit - the foam seals are available to buy separately - might buy these first a give them a go.

Thanks
