Get under 13 seconds on the 1/4 mile
Do at least 10 RWYB's/track days this year.
Lose at least another 50kg out of the car (and not me losing weight :signLOL:)
What are your car resolutions?

Crack 370bhp on the dyno with my K1.
Get a quaife diff in the car.
Crack 200bhp and 9.5secs 1/4 mile with my ZZR1400
Beat my best time of 8m13 sec on the Ring with my Fireblade.
Do a trackday @ Cadwell in the K1.
Live long enough to do all the above :happy2:

....There's a forum trip in May including Worthensee - See the Meets area.
Otherwise, I would recommend The Nurburgring Experience who Hurdy and myself went with last October. I plan to go with them again.
-
Get the brakes fitted :rolleye:
Get to the ring again to test them out :driver:
Do more track days :driver:
Get my beetle finished for summer or before then as its at my mates grg being finished as we speak
Get the pulleys and ic and uprated supercharger fitted to the Mini and do a few track days in that
Do lots of shows in all my cars :rolleye:
Go stage 2+ at some point in the ed30

WTF new girlfriend :surprised:

Goon!

- Stop modifying.
For me, erm, start modifying! Hoping to have moved soon so insurance should come down to a point where I can afford to modify.

If I hadn't moved back to Brum and have to pay £2500/yr (the cheapest and was with directline!), I could have gone with adrian flux for £800 and then made a visit to JKM.
I'm not rich enough to have money coming out of my arse.
Yet. :P

i ve been looking at brand new cars !!!! my specced brand new S3 is cheaper than equal spec golf R !!!!!! no brainer to me !! :happy2:
-
Finish my mk1, sort the clutch out in the ed30 :sad1:
-
Fit the S3 brakes and stop modding.
Find another classic to restore, after my Fiat 500 project last year.
-

Untill the Quality of the Golf R is known, then its difficult to draw a conclusion imo. Still expensive for just a "golf"
-
Fix my still broken car so I can get shot of it and actually get a GTI at long last. Every time I get close to sorting it all out, something else comes along and pushes the GTI just out of reach. I've been a member here getting on for a year now and still no Golf... I feel like a fraud!

I wouldnt worry mate, as far as people on here are concerned i never owned a proper golf and now have a mini :signLOL:

Yes i have, but same goes you havent been in a Golf R yet .
Untill its been tested and making an asumption the S3 is better without trying the other car , maybe abit premature
-
the s3 is better built than an r32/ed30 imo. Cant really see the vw being better built as Audi is meant to be more prestigeous.
-
The interia of the Mk6 is better then the 5. The quality maybe better in the R mk6.
We shall see.
-
Its a secret.
But spend as little money on the k1 as possible. Will only do supporting mods to maintain reliability. Enjoy the 2010 show and track season, and then it will be getting traded in and will be aiming for 500+ in the new car :D

Dont do something silly like moving out mate, you will end up in a mini :rolleye:

the mk 6 R is an S3 with a different body shell and interior imo the audi looks better from the out side and the inside of the S3 is just a so much better place to be than the golf . i m not putting the golf down cause i love em but after a few months of the S3 i would find going back to the golf quite hard :happy2:
-
^^ :happy2:

:popcornsoda:
I think this debate will go on and on for years and years, like it has already. Each has it's own pros and cons
-
^^^^ i agree but now the golf has the same drive train as the S3 the S3s cons have gone !! does any one know if the golf R uses S3 brakes , intercooler etc ???

It doesn't thought does it? The S3 has the Haldex system from the mkV R32, the R has a new revised Haldex from the current generation Saabs and the Insignia and is significantly more advanced than the systems on the R32 and the one masquerading as Quattro on the S3.

Its the same as the facelift S3 haldex mate.
-
And isn't the rear suspension different?
-
IIRC its the gen4 haldex thats in the facelift S3, non-facelift S3 is gen2 haldex
-
10's in the 1/4 with a DSG Mk5 GTI..
-
make more time for my mate (hard as i work away)
and get the mk1 on track more
-
Instead of chasing silly power figures, my aim is to lose as much weight as possible out of the car but keep it a nice place to be as well. Its the future. :happy2:

still does the same thing though , some times more advanced systems are not better "if it aint broke dont fix it "" :happy2:

Get the wife back to work and then buy a new car
I was going to say Golf R but some recent production pics havn't done it any favours, I am now tempted with a S3 Sportback S-Tronic if I'm honest.
-
My plans for 2010 are:
* Get it colour coded and get some bits painted
* Get my coilovers fitted
* Find some money for an RNS 510
* Get some Monza IIs or Pescaras for the summer

The haldex as used in the saab turbo x is more advanced than the haldex in the s3, new R and even the TT-RS. VAG are still experimenting with the most advanced haldex setup.

my mate who s the manager at loughborough vw told me the golf R was an S3 in desguise all runninig gear and mechanicals are exactly the same BUT he also told me a few years back there would only be 1500 edition 30 golf s !!!
