After learning today how good an Impact wrench is I'm now looking to get one of these instead of going down the air gun/compressor route
What have you got??
And is it up to the job so you would defo recommend ?
thanks.

Snap on
Milwaukee
-
I use the snap on 18v at work and is pretty good but if I was buying another new one I would get either
Ingersoll rand
Milwaukee which the gun has a warranty of 3 years and the battery 2 years but both are not cheap

I use the Milwaukee HD18HIWF daily at work and it's great, it doesn't struggle to undo any wheels bolts or suspension bolts unless they are severely rusted in. milwaukee offer a 1 year warranty on their tools but you can register it for free online to get 3 years warranty, it also only costed me £300. It has been back to warranty once in the first year I've owned it but they picked it up on the Monday and I had it back on the Thursday so it was a quick turnaround
A couple of the lads at work have snap on's latest gun which is a bit more powerful than my Milwaukee but costs £750ish, they only offer a 1 year warranty on the battery tools but after this they only charge around £60-£70 for a rebuild
Milwaukee also do one which is up to 950Nm which costs around £650-700 but you will find yourself stripping threads more often using this one lol
Some more too look at is dewalt/mac tools and ingersoll rand , I know they make half decent impact wrenches but I haven't had much to do with them so no idea on price or warranty etc

i have the ingersoll rand 20v in work (mechanic) comes with two batteries and using regularly daily i can make 1 battery last for a week and charge only takes about 1 hour. Great power from it too, can be picked up for around £400

Wouldn't bother with the snap on cordless gear, most if not all is just rebranded with a massive price hike.

I don't have the impact wrench yet, I did however buy the full 18v fuel set about 15 months ago that is; Combi Drill, Impact Driver, Skill saw, Reciprocating Saw, Grinder and I have to say they have been absolutely faultless, apart from on my combidrill the chuck setting got stuck on hammer, I was out of warranty as I forgot to take out my 3 years extra on the drill only :rolleye: however Milwaukee repaired free of charge as a good will gesture! So I can't fault their service

I have a Hitachi 18v lithium - 1/4" drive...it does 100 lb*ft, two batteries that charge in half an hour. It has done so much work on my MK5 from bushings, wheel bearings, ARB's, to wheels. No job was too big for it other than a few things needed a breaker bar to loosen and I always use a torque wrench to finish.

I use a snap on 18v Ni-cad and bluepoint air impact gun. Reading this you have a lot to look at, you need to weigh up price to use ratio. For example No point paying £700 odd quid on a snap on gun to use it a handful of times when there's plenty of cheaper options that are still decent.

In that case it's only £300 for the big Milwaukee one body only and use your battery's, just try not to strip threads
Or you could always find one like mine body only and save yourself even more money

This is mine - https://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/cordless/2663-20
It's too shiney though so I always end up just using the breaker bar

Just found this on eBay .. Seems like a bargain and I might make an offer item number...

??

180nm not that powerful, but it might do you.
-
Oh really
What should I be looking for ideally ? In nm's ??

I have one with a cord and it states 450Nm Torque but struggles with the wheel bolts sometimes.
But it saved my bacon a couple of times with the alternator clutch pulley and popping the cv joints off.
