Hello,
I've got a niggling issue which is annoying me a bit. I've got R32/Ed30 rear lights on my Gti and the tail light output is uneven around the cluster, hopefully the pictures below highlight the problem.

My question is...has anyone come across this before? I've had a look at the bulbs and they are Osram and look ok to me, is it likely to be the bulbs? Is it an issue with the clusters themselves?
Excuse the mucky car, it will be getting a clean tomorrow :ashamed:

Have you tried swapping the bulbs around to see if it the bulbs?
Otherwise I would guess it's been changed in VCDS.
-
I'd try a set of standard bulbs first off as the bulbs sound suspect.

I'll have a play with swapping bulbs tomorrow. I'm not sure how it could be changed using VCDS though?

The bulbs are standard ones, I tried some LED ones which were even worse so reverted back to standard. I might pick up some replacements just to make sure though.

It's somewhere is VCDS. Think it's central electronic 09. Can adjust either brake or sidelights, it's done as a percentage.
If you cannot find it let me know and I'll have a look

I'll have a play with VCDS tomorrow then. Cheers :happy2:

Ok, had a play with VCDS earlier, I turned them up in 10% increments. It got to 60% (started at 20%) and it looked like this:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcodling1234%2FMobile_Uploads%2Fimage_zps4pnqdkeh.jpeg&hash=29c768786fcc169304026def14be5db6e95b86d1)
They looked too bright and still weren't even, I was also a bit concerned that the brake lights wouldn't be obvious enough in daylight, I turned them back down to 40% and then my battery died! An RAC visit and £122 later I got a chance to look at them at 40%:

Quality of the pictures isn't great but in the dark the lights look fine.

Looks much better now.

Yeah it does. Big thanks to @v4rley (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6697) for pointing me in the direction of vcds :drinking:

Pleased you made some progress, although it cost a new battery!
