Title: Xenon style headlights.. What to look for?
Post by: jimmy-s3 on January 10, 2016, 05:57:56 am
I'm thinking of getting some xenon style headlights for my Pirelli GTI. What should I look for and where's best to buy from?
Can I just use my Osram night breaker bulbs in them too?

There is a genuine set of xenon's up for sale at £300 including everything thats needed i believe that are currently on a Pirelli at VeeDubs up at Gateshead.. Check them out on Instagram if you have it or google them and give them a ring.

As for aftermarket, I think Depo make good ones. Not sure about bulbs, but I wouldn't mind knowing myself if I go for some Depos in the future.

You'll require a hid kit for the aftermarket depo or anything else.
Better to buy oem as they are quality and if you can get them for £300 that's a steal  :happy2:

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can use normal H7 halogens, in the Depos at least.

Getting oem xenons in and working properly can be quite involved.

Yes you can use the H7 bulbs but they won't look as good as a hid kit but that's entirely you're choice.
Hid fitment is more involved than you're oem xenon headlights but depends in you're skills in fitting them and they are plug play too.

If everything is there then all you need to do is activate them in vcds with shutters fitted and a way you go?.

I'm yet to venture into the world of vcds.. haha!

Yeah that's pretty much what I've learned from skimming a few posts. Only thing that'd really put me off Depos is if the beam pattern using normal bulbs ended up worse than in oem non-projector headlights.

More research needed for me. It's a long way down the list anyway... more power first.

:signLOL: you'll learn ad we all have to start somewhere  :P

I'm sure if you're not capable of programming them in, a forum member close to you can do it for you for a small fee.

No one works for free these days.  :signLOL:

I went out to someone 5 miles away as he couldn't fire his tt up and after an hour of tinkering I found he had put the wrong plugs in causing over fuelling and a non start  :signLOL: some people ey.
Have a look here depo xenon with H7R hid
