Post by: Mitch1980 on January 11, 2016, 06:43:22 pm
Thanks for looking at my post I had my car mapped at amd I have stage one and dsg service and dsg mapped also a dv+ and milltek exhaust system I had this done in November after a month I started getting a screeching noise like a fan belt it's now got a lot worse and louder so much so people are looking round when I pass them it only happens in high reeves like 1st 2nd and only after acceleration not when accelerating it even does it when idle and rev up to 3000 revs and let go it starts it also only does it after 5mins of driving not when cold I'm really worried it's the dsg any help please

I'm taking it back to amd as it was fine before the upgrades iv had fan belt etc checked and when it does it its really  hard to find where it's coming from but think it's strange it don't do it when accelerating but after you Rev and not in higher gears it also Carey's on for a good 10-15 seconds as well

When the alternator coupling starts failing (normally after 60K) it makes a noise within the driving pattern you described.

No worries.

Here's a golf making a similar noise although you may say that's not the noise.

When it's the alternator coupling failing it's more a quick murder than a loving tweet!

My car used to screech/squeal briefly on deceleration or occasionally when it was idling. Replaced the PCV as mentioned above and it cured the problem  :happy2:

Yep it does when I pull out stick it stops and sounds like it's going to stall engine but if I buy a Pcv delete will that stop noise or will I still have to buy a new Pcv

Probably cheaper or as cheap to buy the latest PCV from VW or TPS. Don't bother with a delete unless you go the whole hog and buy a full PCV delete Vent-to-Atmosphere kit from R-Tech

The latest PCV valve will be fine and will last many thousands of miles, the early/original parts were a lot more prone to failure
