My manual GTI has start reving itself when sitting idle, for example at traffic lights. Goes from aboub 10000 rpm to 15000 then back down. Anyone else hav this problem. If so is it easily fixed or pricey. Thanks

Sounds like a bad PCV. It's an easy fix and quite cheap.

Sounds like PCV. Happened to me last month, easy fix you can do yourself.

Thanks for all the replies. I hav got it sorted and i feel like a right muppet haha. The dip stick wasnt in all the way
. Engine light came on so i started t look around and i spotted it. But least i know if it happens again my pcv valve is dodgey. Thanks again lads. Jeez thats embarrassing
