Title: Need help with squealing noise
Post by: bowkes7 on January 17, 2016, 06:48:10 pm
Hi when I start my golf gti there is a small squealing noise for the first 5 mins, after the car is warm this goes and sounds normal, was wondering if this was the cam belt that needed to be changed but was unsure as the noise goes

Could be that the Auxilary/fan belt that's worn out or the clutch pulley on the alternator.
How long has the noise been there?.
Do you have a video to confirm the noise?.

Timing belt tensioner. Mine did this and I got it changed and looked at the old tensioner and when you turn it, it squeals /chirps.

Does it sound like tiny birds chirping?

If your changing the tensioner then its belt off so Mayaswell do belt and water pump at the same time. I did this I think vw charge £420... I think!   :happy2:

Have a search on youtube for the noise First
