Will the Res TBE still give the same burbly tickover and low revs bassiness (wow just invented a word!) as the standard system does? Don't want to go Non res as I don't want the boominess (another new word?) on mway's.
Anyone comment whos gone from standard to the above combo on a ED30?
Cheers.

Yes, I have it and it sounds just perfect.
-
If you can, you should go to a tuner/meet up with someone on here to listen to both the res and non-res individually. There's a fair few people on here who have gone for the Res, and sold it at a later point for the non-res, and vice versa!
-
I went for the resonated exhaust based on the fact that there can be an obtrusive amount of noise inside the cabin at certain motorway speeds/revs... and as I do a fair amount of motorway miles with the missus and kids - it was a no brainer.
Sound wise I am very pleased with the resonated exhaust. It's not "wide-boy" loud...but gives a meaningful and deep burble when idling and equally sounds the business when ripping it down the road...
-
I had the resonated version, then swapped the pipe for a non resonated version.
Much better in my opinion, the resonated was too muted.
-
imo the res is almost like standard, non res all the way!! I dont get any boom'iness' on the motorway?
-
Thanks for the replies guys, I've sampled a Non Res TBE on a K04 Cupra (CarrG on here) and that was too loud for me, so hoping the Non-res will be somewhere in the middle. What I like about the standard system is that burble you get at low revs / idle, hopefully that is replicated and made better with the Milltek.
-
Non res all the way mate, have just had 1 fitted and its not loud at all on the motorway very pleased with it.
-
....
It's very, very subjective - Some much prefer Resonated and others Non-Resonated. Neither are at all 'boy-racer' in sound. I've had various Milltek systems on my GTI and only got slight boominess on my first a few years ago and only if holding the same revs and the problem disappeared after a thousand miles - No such issues since.

I take it you are running Non res?

It seems to have gone quieter with stg2+ but is still v loud on full boost. Some days i like it others not. Still yet to try the res centre i have sitiing around. Thought you had both Rob? Thought it be on by now mate lol.

You know how it is things come up and besides I wanted to get other things done first like REVO and RNS510 so this is next on the list!

Yeah i know mate. Not enough hrs in the day.

I've got the non res & it's no louder than the standard system for me ?.
-
try and get a ride in a car fitted with apr rsc tbe :happy2:

....Yes and no!
I'm running a custom Milltek: Very shallow back box like VWR's with hardly anything in it and therefore a minimal box around the centre section (normally called a Resonated version if this section has a box). The result is about the loudness of a Non-resonated system. All TBE and with ceramic coated tailpipes.
-
I'm based just outside Bognor Regis if you want a passnger ride in a resonated system.
I have 3 kids and the resonated is perfect for me, enough noise to sound sporty, but not too much to get on your tits. Had it on for 8000 miles and love it. It is about my fourth milltek exhaust on various cars(I am a milltek dealer if you want a good price) and I've always gone resonated, bar the RS4, but I changed that after two days as it was too loud, resonated just works better for my situation. If I was youngr, no kids etc, no doubt I've have the non-res.
I would strongly recommend you have a ride with both systems before you buy.

i got the resonated cat back with the intetion of getting the downpipe / cat now BUT i spoke to milltek today and they say fitting the cat/down pipe with out a re map can give me problems !!! it dont say that on milltek web site !!!
imo the resonated is too quiet for the sports driver , may have to get non res section and milltek can stick the cat up there **%$ !!!!!!!
-
Didn't you already run a thread on the dowpipe???? Im sure I'd mentioned it may need a map. Well worth doing as on an S3 you're looking at 330bhp plus! What a weapon, and the doenpipe and cat helps the turbo spool up quicker!
-
yes i did but wanted to speak to milltek to see if they had any answer tbh i was nt impressed with them today , i know people have new year blues but got the impression they could nt be bothered !!!!!!!
i m only going stage 1 custom code to about 310 bhp just wanted the cat / down pipe for stainless more than any thing
-
You'll be fine then, just get the map done first. I'm sure my stage 1 map was never tweaked for my full TBE.
-
yes might have to , just when i had the ed 30 had all done in 1 hit so never felt the benefit of each bit , this time want to feel if there was any gains in each part :happy2:
