Hey guys i was wondering if anyone can throw a bit of light on a problem i have,
Yesterday i washed my car, same way i've always done it, but afte i take it out for a drive i get rear left brake light error on dash
I've removed the left brake light cluster and all the bulbs are ok, Indicator and lights are working just the left brake light is out.
I checked the bulb holder and it's clean of rust and dirt..
could it be the whole light bulb cluster has to be replaced or is there a sensor somewhere?
Thanks for reading..

anyone any ideas.
-
replace the bulb first.
-
I've had this on the Leon a couple of times - it was always the bulb even though visually it looked ok and hadn't 'blown'. Replace it first before looking any further in to it
-
I'd agree with the above, sometimes the bulbs seem to develop a 'flat' spot on the contacts preventing a good circuit.
-
Update... replaced bulb no difference, replaced 40amp fuse no difference, borrowed friends rear tail light unit same as my own and still no difference..
Had a mate who's a mechanic to look at it as a last resort, and as soon as he opened the light housing the bulb has finally decided to blow..
So he reckons i shouldn't be aloud to drive :( :jumpmove:
-
So it was the bulb in the end?.
-
Still not sure mate, i tried 2 other new bulbs the correct type, mates tail light unit and same, unless it had to be reset with vagcom i just glad i sorted itself in the end..
-
Maybe it's the wiring in the boot harness split and causing the wires to disconnect and reconnect?.
-
Suns finally come out, so i'll take a closer look then take her out a blow the cobwebs out.. :driver:

Stupid question but I have had this before on other cars at work. When you changed the bulb did you try locking the doors, leaving it 10 seconds and unlock them and turn ignition on to see if the error disappears.

^^^This when you replace a bulb it won't work until you turn ignition off and on as I found when fitting and repairing my aftermarket xenons.
