Title: Valve stem Seals on 2007 GTI
Post by: Mego on January 31, 2016, 07:54:15 pm
Hi all, been having bluish smoke issue while going downhill when off gas,and when i push the gas a little a bluish puff of smoke came out and then disappear.
i did change the turbo and nothing changed..then i did a full pcv delete and same problem is still there..yesterday i did a compression test wet and dry and all is ok (153,150,150,148).
my question is could this be a bad valve stem seals?is it known that seals go bad in tfsi engines?
i think the only option now is the valve stem seals.

I wouldn't like to say it's 100% not the stem seals but it's unlikely.

Never heard any issues with them even on really high mileage.

What engine oil are you running? When was the car last serviced? I'd be looking at everything else before the valve stems.

Spark plugs
Coil packs
Oil in boost pipes

There's loads to be looked at. Also get a full read with VCDS
