Title: OEM Usb connection for RCD 510
Post by: mk5Eire on February 07, 2016, 12:01:16 am
Hi , I'm asking this on behalf of a friend of mine. He wants to hook up his rcd510 with a connection for his phone and he wants it to display track names and artists etc so I suggested an MDI kit in the glovebox or the armrest but he found this on eBay

Has anyone any experience with this cable? It looks very neat, slots into one of the blanks in front of the ash tray and connects directly into the back of the radio but can anyone confirm if it works the same as an MDI?

Thanks for any help lads

Only the Chinese RCD-510 made by Delphi have rear USB connector for that cable. European RCD-510 need the MDI module.

Ok so he needs to find out which model he has to see if the cable will fit or not. If it is the Delphi version he has will that cable work the same as an MDI?

The Chinese radios don't have RDS. If it's Chinese it can handle pen drives without a MDI module.

Yes, you'll have full control over the iPhone. Choose songs from headunit or steering wheel, volume up/down, shuffle etc. And it will charge the phone.
