Been unable to lock/unlock on fob press buttons so am locking/unlocking on key & if I start the car within 30 seconds alarm does not go off. Wife bought me new key fob, changed metal key, computer board and battery into the new fob.
Attempted to unlock and start, alarm went off straight away stayed on even when key inserted and car started. Car fired up then cut out and won't run. Alarm stays on for a bit.
Changed everything back to the old fob so it is 'as was'.
Attempted to unlock car..
Car alarm starts as soon as i unlock door, car starts but cuts out. Alarm stays on for s bit. Same as with new fob.
Is there a fix please ??
its half eight at night, next door is bitching at me and we need to go out.
Many thanks in advance
Stuart

Did you change the little plastic round thing in there as well for the immobiliser chip

God bless you Andy. Specially for the picture. Just found it on the kitchen floor. Happy days.
Cheers bud,

^^ what he said.
Be very careful removing that transponder capsule, if you break the glass you are gubbed.
Try starting the car with the new key, plus the top half of the old key in your right hand too (so the transponder is in close proximity to the barrel)

Hope you sorted it

Transponder chip :surprised: you're very lucky to have found it as that's what demobilises the car. news ones are cheap but then it'll need reprogramming with vagcom/vcds. Done this with my new spare key on previous motor and it worked a treat.

As above... Very lucky!

put transponder in new key and now got alarm going off when door unlocks but alarm goes off when key inserted in ignition. Car starts and runs. Am motivated now to get it booked into main dealer to get key fob lock/unlock sorted once and for all. it is a pain unlocking on the key when you got your hands full and need the boot open before getting in.
Just got the car revo mapped and intake done yesterday along with Eibach coilers so definitely keeping it. Amazed at the difference a stage 1 tune makes especially now it has been set up properly with new bushes etc. It is just so willing.
Thanks everyone for the help, Maxitrol you are a legend. I would have been properly stuck today as the missus has got the hoover out again this morning and that transponder would have been lost forever if we didn't find it last night !

Is the battery ok in the key? Try pressing the lock and unlock buttons on the fob while locking/unlocking the door and also try pressing them while turning the ignition on and off.
Had a similar issue a while ago and a mate suggested it and it seemed to work

^^^ As Ricky say's and it does work when losing the memory as I had the same with my Audi when losing the memory.
Don't go spending a fortune when a few presses on the button will do.
