Hi there
I am looking to sell a mk5 Golf GTI edition 30 very soon and if i am honest i don't know that much about their worth apart from Autotrader searches. Could you have a look at this spec and reccomend me a price to sell it at where it will sell within a couple of weeks? Do these cars sell well or will it sit for a while?
Its a 2007 Golf GTI edition 30
49,000 miles
Steel Grey
3 door
DSG auto box
Completely standard, never been modified in anyway
HPI clear
1 Owner from new
Full VW service history
12 months MOT
Only bits are the drivers chair has wear on the bolster and the wheels are kerbed.
It is a fantastic car and a clean slate to anyone looking at buying an edition 30, what do you guys think in terms of pricing?
Many thanks
-
Hi and welcome
With mileage like that, FSH and 1 owner I don't think you'll struggle to sell it.
There are plenty of people wanting them, check wanted classifieds.
Check Ebay and other sites for a better guide.

I think just after xmas is generally a bad time to sell up but you won't have much trouble selling that, any optional extras?

I tend to look at sold listings on EBay to gauge actual selling prices rather than advertised prices. On that basis I'd say about £6500 - £7500. If this suits I may be interested !
-
Or you could just advertise it here.....on this post
-
£6500 - £7500 for a low mileage edition 30? Dont think so :signLOL:
-
thanks for all the replies, i will indeed list it on here when it goes up for sale :) would you recommend i refurb the wheels before the sale or leave them as they are?

Maybe he was chancing his luck :P
-
personally get the wheels refurbed i pay £200 so well worth getting them done
then i would go with something like 11300 except anything above 10000
just depends how long you want to sit on it
-
Be wary of forum offers, some people can try to lowball you if your not sure.
Get it all the time on an RC forum I'm on, new guys ask how much is X worth next it's sold for peanuts, traders often prowl the forums. :happy2:
-
£6500-£7500
that would be a bargain.
You should get £10000 for that or there abouts.
Goodluck

I paid £6800 for my 06 Mk5 Gti 59K 3 months ago, manual, no extras.
Would've loved to have seen an ED30 for that money at the time!
-
circa £10k?
Just the spec I was after when I was looking 4 years ago :driver:
-
I tend to look at EBay Sold listings when gauging actual selling prices. According to EBay right now the last ED30' have gone for less than £7500(best offer accepted, 55,000 miles), £6275 (94k), £6750 (99k), £6100 (72k). I'm not saying there aren't variations in trim, tune and condition, but £11k looks highly optimistic from where I sit
-
As others have said - only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it
I personally think 10k is a bit optimistic but who knows?
Put in on eBay with a sensible reserve and see what happens - its the best place and widest market appeal for cars
Quality pics, with an accurate description and spec is key to achieving the best price - cant give the prospective buyer too much info
Does it have the following options?
Xenons
Highline
Armrest
RNS510 - Nav unit
Multi Function Steering Wheel
Cruise Control
Folding Mirrors
Full Leather
Premium Tyres
MOT Advisories
How long have you owned it?
Reason for sale?
Previous work outside normal service items - such as mechatronic units/suspension components/cambelts/windscreen replacements and so on
Any insurance flags Cat C/D, previous accident damage
If it doesn't reach the reserve - try again, reduce or hold on to the car.
All depends what you NEED to realise from the sale and how quickly it has to go.
What does we buy any car price it as - regarding an absolute minimum "trade" valuation?

^^^This, don't just jump at the first silly offer of 8k if the cars a minter and I'd pay to have those wheels done as it makes a whole lot of difference to any buyer looking to buy the car. When I went to see my normal fully spec for me gti it didn't have sat nav or xenonx and wheels were kerbed a little but the seller got them fully inside out refurbed for in his own words £35 a corner and they looked brand spanking new. £50 a corner is still good if you want a good price for your car. Still haven't seen any pictures?. :worthless:

the replies have been great so far, from my own research i have seen edition 30s from £6800 all the way up to £11000 with varying specs and mileage. I am not in a huge rush to sell but at the same time i don't want to advertise it for 1-2 months.
A bit more info regarding the car,
Full Vw history including DSG oil change in 2013 and a cambelt change in 2014.
Heated seats
Parrot bluetooth system
Sliding armrest
an attachment to stick an ipod to inside the armrest.
Michelin Pilot sport S tyres x4 all with 4mm
One of the front wings has small bubbling on it so ( must have had a small scuff on it at one point and got a bit of paint)
Think i will get the wheels refurbed and get a full valet done to it before i sell it. I will of course put it on here first of all so it can go to an enthusiast
-
You should speak to vw ref the front wing - many have had theirs replaced gratis
Especially with the full VW service history!
Get some pics up!

Is it a common problem then or what's the story?
-
Both my mk5's had new wings, without full VW history, they were all done for free. It is a big issue, yes. The majority of mk5's have/had bubbling wings.
Problem lies with it being previously painted, VW will likely refute any claim if it is picked up on when they do a thickness test.
-
Perhaps worth getting the wing looked at by VW. It should be a no cost job and will mean there's no haggling on that. As a buyer they may be concerned the dealer won't play ball.
-
It's worth what someone is willing to pay.
Not a high spec but low miles. Someone lookiing for a 3dr DSG in grey will be chuffed......factor in cost of wings/wheel refurb in negotiations. As @Ditto (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=13301) says potential buyer may be put off or concerned he/she will have to deal with that.
£9k Max as is IMHO but you never know.

If only it was manual ...... :rolleye:
Do you have all the paperwork...? old mot`s to back up the mileage...?
-
You can check history on the mot with the relevant mot document number.
-
My brother just bought exact same car with 42k on. 1 owner from new full VW service history and loads of receipts in mint Condition for 10500. It was cheap at that!
For yours I would say 10500-11500 depending on other spec like xenons, rns, cruise little bits like that.
As above if the wheels are a real mess I would get them done before selling for what it costs.
The main factor is how long you want to sit on it for and if you need a quick sale. I think it will sell in a couple of weeks at 10500

Yea i have a folder of old Mots as well as Service invoices and the stamped service book.
Here are some pics, sorry for the extremely bad quality but it was raining :P
