Hi all,
About a week ago my car started making an unusual sound upon start up. To me it sounds like squeaking and my best guess would be that it's coming from a belt possibly? It only seems to happen on the first start up of the day and goes within a minute or two. It is there when idling but it's more noticeable when revved a little.
I haven't been able to have a good listen with the bonnet up etc. but I've tried to record it for you to have a listen to. It comes through quite well on the video but apologies for my parking sensors going off I didn't think about it at the time as I was getting the car out of the garage!

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Pretty sure it's your aux belt dude

Pretty sure it's your aux belt dude
or the tensioning roller pulley...

Both of the above answers..
Aux belt and pulleys are easy to inspect. LHS of engine when facing it. You should be able to check the condition of the existing belt ridges with your hands and a torch. You should also check for free spin on the bearing.
Unless your competent in doing so then get a garage to adjust the tension providing the belt and associated bearings are in good condition.

Thanks for the replies guys. The car is going in next week to my trusted VAG Specialist. I'll update this thread when it's sorted, hopefully it can help someone else!

Take aux belt off then start it, if the sound goes then you know it's one of the pulleys or belt. Then you can grab each pulleys and see of there is any play or noise on them.

mine was doing the same, had the aux belt replaced however this didnt fix the sound.
its turns out it was the water pump so had the pump replaced and cambelt changed and the noise has gone

Typical...when the car was with my mechanic it didn't make a sound! I got the aux belt changed anyhow but the sound persists. Also the cambelt and water pump etc. were only done in November last year so surely it can't be that? I'm not too concerned at the moment it's just irritating!
