Hi,
Just bought a mark5 golf can someone explain what I need vag-com for (do I need it for remapping and turning the lights on)

Cant remap using vcds.

You can do extra things like code modules abd diagnose errors.

Loads of info in vagcom sections

It's primarily a diagnostic kit that allows you to scan the car faults etc but also allows you to change the coding for certain features.

It has nothing to do with remapping and not sure what you mean by lights but I do believe you can alter the coming home light functions and things like that.

It's also known as VCDS these days. Have a look at the Rosstech website for more info

Thamks for the advance I mean with the lights I've seen quite a lot of vw golfs with dipped and indicators constatley on any ideas????

Hi mate, that'll be the bi xenon and xenon headlights that you can set to do this. look at my signiture.
Standard lights cannot do this.

Oh really  :ashamed: and :stupid:  :signLOL: I thought only the xenons did this. Thanks for the info bro  :drinking:

At least it makes to oem lights look a little cooler  :signLOL:

You can also use it to do data logging. Sometimes helps diagnosing problems
