Guys i was offered a deal on the Audi RS3 today 464 inc vat 8k miles oer annum
2600 deposit
Do i sell the gti and pull the trigger?
Any ideas on the deal i was offered?

Do it!

What's the final payment ?, nearly £500 per month and restricted to 8k miles per year ?!, sounds like a pair of financial handcuffs mate. That's a lot to pay, esp to be limited to 8k, you are paying a ton for a car you can only do 8k in. I would walk away from that one mate
-
Also, how long's the term and GFV (I'm assuming this is PCP)? Have you worked out the total cost, and what you could do with that outlay instead?
Lets say its 3 years...just the payments would total £19,304! At the end of it, you have no ownership of the car, although you may have some equity if the car is worth more than the GFV (usually the case) - But you can only realise that value if you're able to buy the car and re-sell, or you put it into another PCP deal)
Just to play devil's advocate....
Have you considered if you'd be better off getting a loan, with smaller payments that £464? As an example, you can get a £22k 5 year loan for £413/month. Plus the £2.6k you had in mind for deposit will get you a 2012 RS3. If you ran the car for 3 years, you'd have £9.4k left on the loan. I'd imagine the car would be worth more than that, lets say £12.5k (half-life of a VW/audi is about 4 years on average, but let's assume 3 years to halve to be conservative). Sell the car, pay off loan, with a bit left over. It would've cost you £14.4k. (2.6 + (0.413*12*3) - (12.5-9.4)) = 26% cheaper. Less if the car is worth more when you come to sell. Less still if you choose an altogether different car with less depreciation (B7 RS4 anyone? :happy2:)

My mate got stung when he had an A4 on lease
When he handed it back they picked out every minor paint chip. They also said that the tyres were not Audi approved ones and needed replacing or get charged extra for it.
He went over the mileage by about 110 miles as well over the 4 years lease. The restriction in mileage was a massive burden and he ended up hardly using the car because of the limit. Ended up driving his missus' car every so often to allow for the miles spread across the year.
I guess it depends on who you go through but that seems a lot of money for a very low mileage limit. A nice car is meant to be driven, not the opposite.

Hi guys its not a PCP deal its a 2 year lease
The final price is £464 inclusive of vat, also i don't really do much long mileage so worked out if i do an extra 1000miles for example works out at £80
Also considered the Golf R was offered a fully loaded one for 360inc vat but for an extra £100 i get an RS3
Thanks for the advice btw still thinking about it paperwork has come through just needs a signature :jumping:

I don't think anyone is going to talk you out of it at this stage. You're like a kid at xmas with your new toy! I'd personally prefer a 7R and it's cheaper but you want the audi and after you've weighed up all of your options if it's still what you want then get it. Sure you might lose a few pound in comparison but if you have the money then go for it
-
If you work out the numbers they are pretty scary
It will cost you £28 per day just for the lease !, to keep the miles to 8k you are likely not going to drive it every day, so those days it sits on your drive that's another £28, for a car you don't even own. I have driven the new RS3, it's very good, but for £28 per day I would want something mind bending fast (which it isn't) my stage 2+ has more power. The interior is lovely, but not £28/day lovely, or even more scary, £1.16 per hour for just the lease ! :jumpmove:
double ouch !

I haven't driven the Golf R or RS3...is the RS3 worth the extra approx 30%/£2,500 over 2 years?
-
I have a test drive set up this sat so will let you know!
Realistically could the deal get any cheaper? I can't seem to find any better only more expensive!
-
What do you want the RS3 for? Just the speed and power? Do you do track days?
-
My mate has the 7R and its rapid.
300bhp AWD goodness!
-
The main reason i wanted the RS3 was i preferred the look over the 7r and also i wanted that sweet sounding 5cyl engine
And of course the extreme power
-
Have you driven one ?
-
I am booked in this sat for a test drive
-
Just an update. Did some more negotiating and final price is now at 420 including vat

Around £1.5k down:

Sometimes it's best to go with the lower miles and then pay extra for the miles you go over rather than pay upfront for it.
Re: RS3 vs 7R:
I'd like either, but think I'd save £150 a month and go with the 7R.

Another vid worth watching is the AutoExpress Focus RS vs RS3 vs Golf R one.
The Focus wins it, RS3 stone dead last. Too nose heavy, too numb, too boring, not worth the extra money over the other 2 was the summary. It basically is all about that engine and cabin quality. The other 2 would run rings around it on a challenging road.
I'd take the Golf personally. The Focus is too harsh suspension wise, the Audi too expensive. As always, the Golf is the perfect middle ground

Very good video I have see that, to be honest i'm not gunna be taking it around a track main reason i wanted it over the R was the engine and looks but i will be test driving it tomorrow so will report back with my findings :)

As someone said before I think your mind is pretty made up. Test driving should be done in the golf too so you can get a comparison.
