Title: Power flex
Post by: AliGTI on February 16, 2016, 09:49:17 am
Hi all. I have a standard mk5 GTI and was thinking about upgrading the lower enigine mount to the Power Flex one. I was interested to know if anyone has done the upgrade and does it make a difference?

Many have made the upgrade and all that fitted a turbo back exhaust system. It's must have mod in my opinion.

I have recently fitted 1 and was surprised just how much of a difference it made. Defiantly worth it and it's quite a cheap mod too

You'll have to also think about the upper two as they maybe weak and with the powerflex insert fitted you may find more of a jerk.

Cheers fellas. My next question is what colour should I go for? Should I go the whole hog and get the race spec or what? I watched a clip on Youtube and it looks simple enough to fit.

I hadn't even thought of that. My main issue I'm having is the car feels a bit jerky when pulling away. I'm not sure if it's my crap clutch cotrol or what.

Thanks Tappy. Are suggestions about what colour to go for?

I went for the red powerflex insert which is for a diesel which doesn't give me any added cabin vibrations

Check your gearbox mounting as it's a common problem and get a genuine one as eurocarparts ones are rubbish.
Check he video I uploaded half way down the post.
You'll also see insert  :happy2:

I bought the BCS Powervalve TBE and it came with a Powerflex yellow engine bush. For the 500 km that I travelled with it before replacing it for a Vibratechnics (got a good deal and it has better reviews) I didn't notice any increased cabin vibrations. That was before doing the remap, now the engine vibrates and pulls a lot stronger when on full throttle.
