Title: REVO Stage 5
Post by: DotDotCurve on February 16, 2016, 02:20:58 pm
Hey guys.

Had my GTI since May 2015. To cut a long story short the plan has always been to work up the Stages but, situations have changed and I may be in the financial position to kickstart it and skip a few Stages.

I can't really find much on Stage 5 for the GTI no matter where I look.
I am not the most mechanically minded person so I apologise if any of the advice of give should be obvious. Treat me like a complete newbie.

Does anyone have an idea how much it would cost (roughly) to go straight from Standard to Stage 5?

Spec list for reference:

Haha not sure if you mean because of the cost or because of the power...... Maybe both!

Will you even be able to get the power through the wheels with that much power ....?

Best I've seen if a 550+BHP 500+lb/ft Stage 5 one. It seemed fine, but obviously had a lot of money spent in its handling and traction.

Hardware list reads about right, for the engine. I'm sure you've got it sussed but lsd, big brakes etc would be a very good idea!

Copy and paste list from REVO?

Stage 5?? Stage 3 then.

£15k-£30k from start to finish for all mods inc brakes, handling, engine etc etc etc required depending on parts used. APR or Nortech BT kits are £5k+ alone IIRC. Pikey had 500bhp from his Eddy, Hurdy had 500bhp from his Mk6 R. Find thier build threads and trawl through.

Yeah. Copy and pasted so people knew roughly what was needed.

REVO do 5 stages for the KO3.

I'll have a look for their build threads. Thanks :)

I would talk to JKM about circa 500bhp in a fwd. Their Octavia is running 520 currently and they run an ECU from these people: http://www.syvecs.co.uk (http://www.syvecs.co.uk)

I've ridden in it and the delivery is devastating and beautifully controlled. I'd say it's too fast for the road in all honesty but they have it as a technical showcase and a forthcoming 200mph fwd record attempt.

Within this ECU are some very well engineered traction control systems, amongst other's that are non existent in standard ECU's. It will protect your drive train in a way that a standard one simply can't. It will let you do a foot flat launch  without any loss in traction. No spin or wheel hop...just grip. It's a mind boggling experience and I would say it re-writes the rule book for fwd, but it's not cheap.

Done properly this will cost many many £'s.

Yeah they do and the k03 is the first thing to go in the bin......

Deep pockets? If so bin the gti and buy a better base model to start off with
Save you a lot of time effort and monies

Are you really going to put at least 5 times the value of the car into mods ??, hope your not a financial advisor by trade ! Haha

If you have 30k to spend you'd be mad to spend it on a 7k golf !, as R5 said just buy a RS, or golf R, they go to 400bhp with exhaust and remap.  :happy2:
