Anyone got any tips to get the engine mouth off? The one that has 3 bolts into the side of engine. Got the 3 bolts out but struggling to get the side mount out, it's flapping about but is always up agaist something such as chassis leg, aircon pipes :fighting:
I've done this job before on my mk5 gti and struggled but always got it out in the end but this time I've spent for. Ever on it :fighting: :fighting:

The one that goes into the timing belt cover?
-
Yes that one

Do you have the one or two piece belt cover?
The one piece is a pita. Jack the engine up higher than you would like, try and pull it forward also. I repositioned the jack which stopped it moving back so much.
IIRC left hand side of the mount comes out first.

It's the two piece timing cover, it's on my mates mk6 R. It's just as if it's not high enough to pull it out, it either hits the aircon pipes or the chassis leg where the top half of the mount bolts onto.
Did you take the lower engine mount/dog bone off?

No mate took nothing off.
I bottled out with the jacking up of the engine, luckily my old man was there and egged me on the keep jacking it up. :scared:
Repositioning the jack helped as the engine was too far back.

Just checking, when I did my timing belt on my mk5 gti I never took the lower mount off either but was just thinking it might help. Yes it's most likely the engine leaning back and catching the bulk head when I'm jacking il try and get it so it doesn't or get someone to try pull the engine forward as I jack it up.
