As title. I've tried searching to clarify which would be suitable for my '56 mk5 GTI but can't find any results that specific.
Opie stock 2 variants;
Millers Oils NANODRIVE CFS 5w-40 NT Full Synthetic Engine Oil
Or
Millers Oils NANODRIVE EE LongLife 5w-40 Full Synthetic Engine Oil
The long life is cheaper, weirdly. Anyway, which one will I need with a 10k service interval?

Does Nanodrive meet any of the VW approvals?
I emailed Fuchs a while back to get advice on switching to their ester synthetic (Silkolene - used it in the past, amazing stuff) but they said stick to what the manufacturer has approved!! Like the honesty! They could easily have sold me their expensive stuff but didn't.
I'm just thinking if a very highly regarded oil maker says stick to the standard stuff, that must suggest something?

I'm sure Opie Oils say it covers 504.00/507.00 standards.

Any reason you can't use the longlife EE grade?
Will be doing changes every 6 months/6000 miles and as it's a fair bit cheaper........

I emailed millers a while back asking about Nanodrive CFS 5w40 not being VW approved - this is what they said:
Thank you for your enquiry and there is no problem with you being able to use CFS 5W/40NT oil in your car. The oil does not carry any VW specs because it is a motorsport product and the quality is much higher than what they call for.
Not exactly a scientific answer but can see the logic.

It's not manufacturer approved because approval costs a lot of money for oil companies. Millers being a "smaller" oil retailer would not see a return on the investment.
It's a much better oil to use than a stock 5w30. If you have any doubts then don't use it but I use it and I'm nearly at 160k..

Yeah that was Fuchs stance on it as well. They advised using their GT1 5-40W instead but I suppose sticking non-approved stuff into a 100K old engine isn't the end of the world! Think I'll go with the Silkolene. I used it in a knackered old VR6 engine once and it halved the oil consumption and made it a lot quieter.

I also wondered this tbh as there's quite a price difference. Does anyone know exactly what the difference is between the two?
