Hi all i collected my Pirelli GTI on friday and what can I say..... it does not fail to impress at all  :rolleye: :driver:

I'm new to the whole scene I previously owned a MK6 polo GTI DSG which was fun but boy oh boy this is a whole new level of fun  :jumping:

I managed to get up to Keswick for a day out on Sunday and to give the car a run out and it was a really nice drive shame about the weather when I got there haha. I think I managed on a full tank to get about 340ish miles and that was v power (is that about right?)

I'm looking to get in contact with someone that wouldn't mind helping me out as I really really want to look after this car, I am a total newbie to doing anything my self on the car but I would like to start learning from the little things upwards as I know there are somethings you can do your self without having to take it to the dealership every time something needs changing.

I will upload pictures tonight but not managed to take some my self yet but when i do they will be getting posted.

Any help would be appreciated I just want to keep this car in good condition and looked after.

340 miles sounds good. It'll get better after a few weeks of V Power (if it hasn't been on it before). Mine certainly did. The exhaust sounds much better and the power is tangibly better.

Regarding maintenance, just don't get carried away. There are things you can do yourself, and things you give to a professional. If you're unsure as to how to do it, find a VW specialist. No need to take to a dealer. I personally like talking to the person who's worked on my car. Makes you a more informed owner.

That being said, many of the small things you can do yourself (e.g., diverter valve, media upgrades). Plenty of DIYs on the Internet.

A Pirelli edition would be my mk5 of choice, but sadly I don't have a spare £10k for a nice one. The tyre tread seats have grown on me too.
Edit: looking at the OP's Pirelli's interior I'd say the obvious upgrades he could do are MFSW, highline cluster and RNS 510. Personally I wouldn't touch the engine but others probably would...

Nice car. What exactly is a highline cluster, please? Any pics to show the difference?

Your dash with the clocks either has midline where the centre rectangle only covers half the screen with LCD and the top with dash lights or you have highline where the entire rectangle is an LCD which gives you the ability to change setting using the stalk.

If you're wanting to give it a good service I'd suggest changing all oils and filters along with the cam follower and the oil pick up pipe. Cam follower can wear down and eventually cause damage to the camshaft if not replaced in time, oil pick up pipe tends to get blocked which can result in oil pressure issues. Other than that these engines are pretty bulletproof. Enjoy it!

Replacement of the pickup pipe is unnecessary as the gauze can be cleaned!

RNS510 didn't come out until 2010, so wouldn't have been an option on any MK5.

Pirellis do nothing for me personally.  Not keen on the interior at all and the wheels aren't as nice as the Edition 30's, but I can see the appeal of owning one as an investment though!

You're right, did some googling of the part number and 2008 seems the most common year for introduction to the European market, so yeah, perhaps it as an option on run out MK5s then  :smiley:
