Hi guys,
Can somebody please let me know if Ferodo DS2500 brake pads are legal to use on the public highway in the UK or not?
I read that they're supposed to be good pads, but if (God forbid / touch wood / etc) I am involved in a accident and somebody is hurt and the insurance companies get involved and strip down the car to look for an excuse to not pay out, will I have a problem if I'm using these pads?
Reading up on other forum posts suggest that they are NOT legal, but on the Ferodo website, if you look at other pads they all explicitly say "Warning: <PAD-NAME> IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ROAD"
For example: http://www.ferodoracing.com/products/car-racing/racing-brake-pads/ds3000/ (http://www.ferodoracing.com/products/car-racing/racing-brake-pads/ds3000/)
The DS2500 does not have this warning?
For example: http://www.ferodoracing.com/products/car-racing/racing-brake-pads/ds2500/ (http://www.ferodoracing.com/products/car-racing/racing-brake-pads/ds2500/)
So if somebody can let me know for sure (and preferably post some kind of 'proof' either way) that would be great!
If we agree they are not road legal, what pads are recommended for road use with maybe 2 or 3 track days per year on a MK5 GTI running a stage 1 R-Tech map @ 250bhp?
Many thanks in advance,
Matt.

Well, they're Car Racing brake pads, not Car Tuning brake pads... I don't think they're road legal, but they work fine for daily driving.

Not road legal.

Thanks guys.
Found this following Shoduchi's comment....

....Which pretty much sums it up.
Damn it. Would much rather run the DS2500 all the time but want to remain legal :sad1:
Thanks again,
Matt.

True.

It's just arse covering. Use them, they're totally fine for road use.
The DS3000 on the other hand.... rubbish until hot and the dust eats your wheel lacquer away. The 2500's dust is a lot harsher than OEM pads too, just so you know.

Like he says arse covering.
Same as fitting the correct tyres etc.
