Hello people,
This is my first post on the forum and I was wondering whether anyone knows about bumper compatibility between the bumper and grill module of a 2005 Mk V GT TDI 140ps and an aftermarket eBay GTI grill. I currently own the first mentioned GT golf and would like to spice it's standard bumper up a bit. I have heard that there are compatibility issues between ages of cars, I bought mine in September 2005, the same month it was released. As far as I know the 140ps was only available in the UK which is why it had a different bumper until 2006. This is what my car currently looks like:

And this is what I would like it to look like:

I have found this bumper which I would like to put on a car with the same front bumper and grill as the first picture:

Any help on this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks, FifthTechnik

Hi, you will need to trim the reverse side of the bumper to fit it to your gt. there's a YouTube video on the cutting method.
-
The 2nd picture is an R32 Bumper.
Infact it is the exact one from the seller on Ebay that I am thinking of getting.

Ebay item 182013084622

As mentioned, the R32 bumper is different to a GTI/GT facelift that you want.
I did this on my first mk5, the aftermarket bumpers often are GTI 'style' so they don't need cutting like an OEM one, unless they are advertised as a GTI direct fit.
I replaced my copy one with a genuine one after a while, I was never happy with the fitment of it
-
As mentioned above, if it's a genuine bumper you'd need to trim it very slightly, if it's a GTI/R32 style then it should fit straight on.
I'd personally recommend looking around for a genuine one as it will probably fit better.

This is the bumper that I am thinking of adding to my Mk5:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-R32-Front-Bumper-Complete-MK5-With-Inserts-Grill-2004-2009-TDI-GTI-TSI-/201419556678?fits=Car+Make%3AVW%7CModel%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+V&hash=item2ee58a8746:g:f7UAAOSwQJhUkJUw
It says in the description that it will fit all Mk5s from 2004-2009.

That companies very smart as the are selling the same product 279.99 collection and 309.99 +19.99 delivered :stupid: so added an extra 49 delivered on the sly :signLOL:
-
I'd be weary of that seller, I enquired about a GTI look bumper before and the price went from £179 to £479 in a matter of minutes.
-
I enquired about the R32 Bumper & was told £280 collected was fine
