Not heard of gnj motorsport. But yes, that's the correct spec. I paid about 640 delivered, can't remember where from though.

GNJ are great. Ive delt with a chap called Graeme in the past. I'd have no problem buying from them. Bought mine (that exact spec you mention) many moons ago from them. Ive just put them back on to sell the car. Plenty of pics in my build thread Id imagine.

Back in the day when I bought them.....

your car looks amazing. will be purchasing the wheels and the springs then. where did you get ur springs from? have any one done the arch screw what every one is going on about can't find the post any where
Title: Re: bbs vz 18''
Post by: AJP on March 07, 2016, 08:14:58 pm
Cheers mate. Got the springs from Awesome GTI. Haven't had to touch the arch screw myself as they clear fine. There's plenty of room.

Remember to get a full alignment done once it's lowered.

Just bear in mind, some 225s are a touch wider than other 225s. Not massively, but if they have a squarer shoulder you could get the odd bit of contact. Like I said, the Supersports are a good option. As well as being a damned good tyre!

Post by: AJP on March 07, 2016, 08:16:48 pm
PS, make sure you get the H&R springs with 29176-1 product code
Title: Re: bbs vz 18''
Post by: MC71 on March 07, 2016, 08:23:48 pm
you'll be fine with 225. Remove the arch liner screw at top of the arch and push the liner in and  under, gives extra room too. Simples.

Type that P/N into Google for best price. GNJ sell them (ask for a deal on both the wheels and springs), AewsomeGTI, Alex at AKSTuning and depending on exchange rate.....cheapest of all........eBay.de.

perfect seen the springs on there website.
regarding tyres i take it you run 225,40,r18 would it be worth getting 215 and stretching the tyres slightly or not?
Title: Re: bbs vz 18''
Post by: AJP on March 07, 2016, 08:31:33 pm
Yes, I've got 225 40 18.

There's nothing to stop you using 215s, but for me I'd have to have a really good reason to do that over 225s. Such as... being spazzy low or heavily spaced. As in you really need the extra room.

If you're not spazzy low or heavily spaced, you won't need the room. It'd be pointless. And look a bit silly in my opinion.

Plus you might be limited in what decent tyres you can get in 215s. If I could fit 235s or 245s without rubbing, I would. You need as much grip as you can get above and beyond stock power.

Super Sport isn't listed in that image. There's Pilot Sport 2 and Pilot Sport 4. Out of those, I've heard the PS2 is better, but I've never had them so can't give you any sort of review. Super Sport is a different thing. I've read that they're getting hard to get hold of.. maybe that's the case!

I just used my existing oem bolts. VZ take radius just like the standard ones.

I've got the little oem plastic bolt covers on mine that were on the Monzas when I bought the car. You can't actually see any of the bolts with these on. Maybe an option for you, save shelling out on new bolts if it's just for aesthetics.

As for lockers, I bought a set of McGuards. They're decent.

They're aftermarket chrome effect things, and would probably look a bit dodgy..

These are more like what I have:

162004042707

Can't say for sure if they're the exact same set as mine, hopefully somebody can clarify whether there's a specific size you'd need.

The ones that were on the Monzas were a perfect fit on the VZ though.

Bit of digging and I'm sure you'll find what you need!

Can't tell you how much they should be torqued up. I've always done mine by feel. Probably not ideal but I've never had problems...!

Just a bit of advice regarding locking bolts - make sure you don't overtighten them. There's loads of accounts of people saying certain brands are crap, but in most cases they've been overtightened and get damaged when they need too much force to shift.
