Title: RNS 315
Post by: Reesy23 on March 07, 2016, 09:42:52 pm
Might be something that I've missed when looking through, but:

I have RNS 315 in the car (Bluetooth, car kit etc works fine) but when I plug Vcds in it can't read anything from the radio which means the steering wheel buttons I just installed won't work. I'm pretty sure I could only get the volume to work anyway as mine isn't a highline but it'd be nice to use them and work out why Vcds won't recognise what's installed.

Alllllso, I have 2 USB ports but their doesn't seem to be anyway of connecting them to the car to play music, I have options for Bluetooth, aux, CD and SD cards..

What is your car? and which year is it? if it is mk5 buttons will not work. With CH steering wheel controller maybe volume only buttons would work, but without it - no, for sure. 315 doesnt support mk5 chasis cars, only mk6.
USB - have you got MDI on your car? two usb seems aftermarket thing.
VCDS - if your gateway is old, it doesnt see the new radio for sure, we've tried it. Also, have you marked navigation on the gateway installation list? From the bad point, could be broken cans part on the radio or faulty wiring.

Hi, it's an early 2006 MK5. I was pretty sure I'd only be able to get the volume buttons working, I'm not too worried about the others on the wheel.
No MDI, if the USB ports are aftermarket and just for charging then it's not an issue, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something obvious I was missing.
Everything was in the car when I bought it, so I don't know anything about the installatio. When I'm at home Tuesday I'll see what VCDS shows up.
