Title: THEFT - WARNING
Post by: davoaj on January 08, 2010, 10:43:28 am
On Wedensday night 3 masked men smashed down my front door with a sledge hammer whilst my girlfriend and I were in the living room. They threatened me and demanded my keys, took my watch and some cash before leaving.

One of them was very calm whilst the other two were f**cking idiots. The calm one told me the car was stolen to order.

They also tried to take a neighbours S3 but failed.

The police told me that there have a been a spate of cars going in the area recently and that a new shape Type R went under similar circumstances last weekend.

If you're based in the Northwest guys and girls just be extra vigilant and for god sake if you are unlucky enough to experience what my girlfriend and I experienced, just do what they say and get them out of your house asap.

Don't try to be a hero, because even if you succeed they'll just come back. They tried to get mine back in November and failed. I wsih I'd sold it before they had the chance to take another shot at it.

Look after yourselves.

OMG! That's frikkin sickening news!

Hope you and the family are safe. Cars can be replaced. Lives can't.

it makes my blood boil reading things like this! have you any pictures of the car? im so sorry to hear this mate, but thanks for the heads up. where abouts are you in the north west?

The advice you have given is definitely the best thing to do, not to be a hero. These kind of people will stop at nothing to get the car.

I hope you and your girlfriend recover from this as fast as possible.

Post by: davoaj on January 08, 2010, 11:07:17 am
Thanks guys.

I do have pictures of the car but to be honest, I'm not really interested in recovering it. I hope I never see the thing again.

Sadly and predictably I am in Merseyside. Such a cliche.

Just wanted to let people know as I would hate for something like this to happen and people not be prepared. Girlfriend and I are physically fine, but think it'll take some time to recover mentally.

As for cars, it's the last nice car I'll have whilst living round here. It's a nice neighbourhood, but as with the majoroty of this country, you're never too far away from some scum bags who want to take what you've got.

strange how they told u it was being stolen to order   nice of him to tell u that  :fighting: its only a car mate and i for one would be very upset if that happened to me  :sad1: but as long as family are all fine then thats all that matters.

He actually told me that to reassure me because the other two were getting very aggressive and threatening. he basically just said that it was stolen to order and that they weren't there to hurt us, just to take the car.

What is this world coming too, it really does sadden me to think you work hard to make a nice life for yourself and have nice things for some scumbag to just come and take it from you.

What car have (did) have Davo?

As others have already said the main thing is you and your girlfriend are ok.

Sorry to hear it mate, it seems that 90% of the cars that have been stolen in the last 2 years that have been posted on this forum have been from the north west  :sad1:

I have a 7 stone rottweiler living in my courtyard (outside dog) and a shotgun in my room. Its very easy to get a shotgun certificate in the UK  :popcornsoda:

Post by: davoaj on January 08, 2010, 12:31:08 pm
It was a 56 plate GTI, steel grey and absolutely immaculate. Plan was to keep it forever as a second car in the end.

They certainly stole one clean car, I'd sepnt a whole day just before the freeze waxing it and sealing the wheels tp protect those monza II's from the ice!

I'm sure I'll still be around here given my love of GTI's but I certainly won't be getting another one.

As for the shot gun licence, I'd love to but if you shoot the f**kers they'll just come back with a bigger gun.

Australie here I come, get away from this dump of a country.

sh*t mate, sorry to here this.

Same happened to me in June (in Bolton).  They have since caught the buggers and they are getting sentanced in Feb (no sign of the cars though).

At the end of the day a car is just metal and rubber - as long as you and your girlfriend are ok is all that matters.

Hope they catch them and your life isnt disrupted too much mate.

Really sorry to hear about this, absolutely shocking. Hope you can soon both put this experience behind you. It's a sad day when we have to live in worry of such things happening. Makes me want to buy 2 big rottweilers

 :sad1:

Thanks for the warning, Now that is scary, and as other have mentioned its not worth playing the hero cause if this kind of people want your car, they will do whatever it takes to get it.

I bet Most of us are constantly worried about scum steeling our motor, robbing alloys, keying them etc....and now it seems we are risking our familys safety by having shiney metal on the driveway

Can someone remind me why we bother working hard to buy nice things please

aw man thats horrible, hope you and your mrs get past this

i understand not wanting the car back, i'm guessing you didnt have a tracker system?

even if not to recover your car but to lead the police towards capturing the offenders storage areas

gutting though mate, its getting very common at the moment
Title: Re: THEFT - WARNING
Post by: tony_danza on January 08, 2010, 03:38:52 pm
They were as bad when then took my mate's R36 last year - no fear whatsoever. That went to Moss side where it got stripped looking for the tracker (CCTV on a carpark) and was chased a few times around Eccles.. needless to say they lost it very quickly.

99% of cars taken from Manchester end up in either Oldham or West Yorks which is where all your bargain ebay finds are from - the sooner people stop craving VAG bits, the sooner it ends. They pay scumbag low level kids a few hundred notes and this is the result.

Merseyside takers have them for jobs, armed blags and the like. You'll not see this back I would imagine, unless it's found cooling down somewhere on fake plates before they plan to use it.

I hope the catch them, the Police in Merseyside did a fantastic job of catching them on both occasions another friends VXR got taken from Maghull. Kirkby scum.

I'm really sorry this happened to you and hope it doesn't last too long in terms of the after affects. Chin up.

Sickening just sickening. Glad that both of you were unharmed though. As has been asid before, it is only metal and rubber, but it's easy to say when it's not your car !

I'm really surprised that they could even drive it away with the weather around here lately. Thought  you would have been able to walk faster than a car can be driven at the mom ?

Really does make you feel like getting an old banger and saying what the f**k, but then why should you ?. We all work bloody hard for the things we have these days (especially during a major recession), all for sum scumbags neandethals who probably even failed the interview for burger king, coming along and stealing it  :angry015:

Very sad news indeed, glad you did the wise thing though.

tony_danza,

Funny you should say that as when my grandads car got nicked the copper said most of the cars nicked from West Yorkshire end up in Manchester or Liverpool.

Sorry to hear about this mate glad you are both fine.

I had exactly the same a couple of years back when they tried to take my type-R they failed but i sold it straight away in case they came back.

Its the mental side thats the hardest living in fear in your own house. I didnt sleep of ages after it happened sad when people make you feel like that...

Still a year later a brought the GTI so you do feel better eventually... Try and keep your chin up!!

Sorry to hear this mate, the problem in this country is theres nothing to stop these idiots doing this or make them think twice as they have more rights than you in your own house FACT, blame that on the do gooders and human rights plonkers at the top that dont live in the real world :stupid:.

what you should be able to do is :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: with no questions asked then they'd think twice about just taking your car becuse someones orded it.

yep, 500 notes round my way will get you a car stolen to order. Motorbikes will start at 100 notes.

The police arent thick though, they know who is doing it, proving it though is another matter.

Ahh, you know what I mean Frodo.

Moss side & Salford give Manchester a bad name and likewise areas of Bradford/Huddersfield give West Yorks the same. Trouble is they're very interlinked, so stolen stuff from WY goes to Manc and vice versa. DPG is right in this respect.

I've a fair few mates who are cops, they know the score and sad as it is, finding the scum is hard.

Thanks for all your support guys, car was recivered ealry hours of tuesday morning. Now face the argument with my insurers of not wanting it back.

Sad thing is, I'm looking around at what else to buy and going on the relevant forums and there just isn't the same vibe and support on other forums as there is on here.

I'm thinking of maybe getting a B5 or B6 Audi A4 which you can pick up fairly cheaply and hopefully wouldn't draw too much attention whilst enabling me to have something german that I can take a bit of pride in.

At the moment getting back to normal seems a long way off and I doubt I'll get back in something like the GTI until I move away from merseyside and hopefully out of this country!! Not be ing dramatic, the Mrs and I have been trying to get ourselves down under for a while now so we have even more motivation!!

Sorry to hear this, someone invading your home must be a terrible experience - like you day if you did do anything and they want to get you back they know where you live!

On the other side of things, surely if this did happen and you claimed of your incsurance you'll get  screwed for the next few years wont you ....

F*ckin hell mate thats bad, twice aswell ,  the main thing is you and the Mrs are Ok, i hope the two of yous werent shaken up to too bad, athough ill bet it would be hard not too.

Lucky for me i live in a dodgy area as it is, no one would really want to rob anything round my way. The only thing i need to contend with is making sure some knob hasnt kicked the wing mirror from my car !

Hope they steam in into a bridge and kill themselves. Twats.

Had someone try get my Edition 30 which they failed to do as they grabbed the Passat keys and failed to know how to start it. Also had someone try steal my Banshee  :fighting:

The lengths you have to go to, to protect your property is ridiculous.

Australia you say? I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing. I need some IT experience in the UK for a year first so I have something to offer when I go on a 12 month working visa and then hopefully look for a sponsor.

Someone also mentioned W.Yorkshire? That is very true, a local newspaper printed a massive story on a gang of lads that had been doing it months and I knew a couple of them. Pointed out a few cars parked up which were stolen which *wink wink* they were promptly picked up by the police due to a *tracker*

Know how you feel mate, I live in North Liverpool nr Maghull, had my brand new 5 series M Sport taken a year or so ago.  smashed their way into the house in daylight.  Put me off for a while, been driving a 7 yr old 3 series since, I have been ringing around dealers to PX for a GTi today.  This has reminded me how bad it was and made me have second thoughts.

Sh*t happens everywhere though, lad I know thru my brother-in-law moved to Aus, had a nice house built and then was burgled just after he moved in and badly beaten...... saying that I'd move to Canada tomorrow....

Pain will pass, chin up fella.
