Just had a customer tell me about this, its taken from the R32OC Forum, its not cheap but looks like it might be well worth looking into.
Heres the link: http://www.r32oc.com/chorley-car-audio/13700-ipod-connection-mk-5-a.html (http://www.r32oc.com/chorley-car-audio/13700-ipod-connection-mk-5-a.html)

Doesn't look as though they are 100% that it works!
-
im gonna keep an eye on it and see what turns up........ Looks like it might be a bit hit and miss, thought he would have installed one and taken a load of pics, if it was that good he should be selling loads.
-
Call me sceptical, but a simple plug and play quite cheap, suddenly turns up after 3 years. There would have been a few companies coming out with this type of deal a while back if it was possible me thinks.
Fingers crossed though. :pomppomp:
-
There was a denison setup that came recently which was promised to have full support but I don't think it worked out so well. Wonder if that's it.
-
^^^ Yep it's called the Gateway 100 CAN.
Here a youtube video of it in action, been out for a while. Does need highline and ideally MFSW
Can also be got cheaper than the R32OC one - http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/VW_ice%3ELink_Gateway_100_Car_Kit

Think I'd rather stick to the media-in kit from VW, its cheaper and works flawlessly :happy2: and gives you full control.

looking at there website they wont support the rns 510 so thats out the window for me,i wish these companies would hurry up and get them to work with the rns 510.
-
Why don't you just buy the Volkswagen MDI kit. Cheaper and works perfectly. I have it fitted with my RNS510.

The MDI part no. is 5N0 057 342.
The ipod cable is 000 051 446C.
You can also get other cables with USB connectors for other MP3 players.

i was hoping somebody would do one that displayed the track and artist name and also displays it on the highline. i dont want to rush into anything just yet.
-
^^^ If you have an older type (RCD300, 500 or MFD2) the Denison is the best option at present.
Otherwise if you do have an RCD5100 or RNS510 with the touchscreen then the VW MDI is the one FTW :happy2:
-
how much is the MDI kit guys? can you nav around playlists and tracks with the MDI? does it show up track names etc?
-
Ive just take the MFD2 out and installed the RNS510, Same question as JPC, does it show artist and track name on the unit and highline?
-
Not the largest of pictures

Headunit displays Artist, Song Name & Album
Highline shows Artist and Song Name (only the first few characters and doesn't scroll)
You have full access to play any mp3 from your ipod (no video) - songs, playlists, albums, artists, using the HU to navigate (sorry) around your ipod or usb stick
-
It shows every thing same has the SD card does

Déjà -vue!
Rang stealer today, price on the (revised) mdi is around £150inc VAT.
Supposedly it's not as simple as just plug and play. Pins need to be removed from the nav wiring harness and then re-inserted into the mdi harness. Requires a VAG tool to do the job acording to my-gti.com to prevent destroying the pins.
Anyone fitted the revised mdi kit one before? Note that my-gti reports the revised mdi kit is not compatible with version A RNS's?
