Title: Registration Plate Light Leaking
Post by: lukemk5gti on March 14, 2016, 11:52:26 am
My right side registration plate light has been causing me some trouble over the last few months.

I have the led's installed and no problem for a whole year. Then the one on the right allowed some water ingress and it shorted.

I cleaned it all up and put a new bulb in.

Rubber seal looks intact and it's screwed tight so I don't imagine water ingress is coming from the bottom but another lights has now failed.

Any thoughts?

I would get the led units rather than the bulbs. Much better light output and more solid. Ive had my current set on 3 different golfs and a polo over 3 years with no flickering or bulb out errors.

Please elaborate - How much are the units and are they plug and play?

Type in ebay 261131879919 and click search.

Your old unit comes out and these just plug in and you're all set.

Think I'll try these so - http://www.ebay.ie/itm/261131879919?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ie%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D261131879919%26_rdc%3D1

The only issue is sorting out why it leaks in the first place before plugging it in! I'll go have a look at it now!
