Title: Wipers Design Question!

While looking at the swirl marks on my windscreen (another post on this), I've noticed that the wipers can't be lifted up fully from the screen, as they foul on the bonnet.

I am assuming that the bonnet needs to be popped, in order to lift them fully off the screen (car is new to me - second week), but someone in the design studio obviously didn't think that one through! No wonder I've got swirl marks on my screen (and only 32,000 miles), if it's not made easy for us to lift them up to get the shy*e off them :mad: Hmmmm

Any thoughts?

Service position of wipers:-

As you removed your key press the wiper down,it tells the wipers to move to service position.
