Title: MAF
Post by: Janner_Sy on January 08, 2010, 09:34:30 pm
is there any where online that i can get a MAF.  or would i need to go to a stealership.

also what is the going rate for a MAF as well.

last question is, when i last checked the plastic loopthat you normally have on the top of the maf connector to release it from the MAF itself has snapped off. Is there a little trick to getting it off or will it be an absolute b*stard to get off

Same thing happen to mine, there is just a knack to pulling the little catch so it pop's off cleanly.

I checked the dealer price which resulted to me buying one from ebay  :surprised:

looked at ebay couldnt find any at all.

tried all sorts of searches

TFSI MAF, 2.0T MAF, massif flow sensor etc nothing. there used to be loads on there.

Did you notice a difference when replacing yours. mine seems to have developed a flat spot at the high rpm recently, going to change he MAF to see what difference it makes.

how much did you pay steve if you dont mind me asking

Just rechecked, the list is just over £100 and the part number is 06F 906 461 A

I paid something like £20 for a low mileage used one.

I logged the airflow before and after and there was no change, but I had no flat spot, I just replaced it because of the broken tab.

Yep me too.. Just replaced mine.. Big difference!

Yeah with those clips, PUSH the connector as if your trying to force it further ON, then flick the little tab and when you release the pressure it will just come off..

See so many people with screwdrivers trying to pry them off lol..

If you want to try one another one first to prove if it's a fault on yours your welcome to borrow my old one with the broken clip before you splash out on a new one  :happy2:

Key part of the fuelling and crucial to the correct running of your car so IMHO not something that you can cut corners with.
