Title: squeaky startup
Post by: dazza on March 19, 2016, 01:48:46 pm
Over the past few months i'm getting a squeaky startup, luckily the squeak is coming from the left hand side of the engine probably the starter motor?

I changed the alternator pulley a couple of years ago i'm 99% sure the noise is from the left.

Is it the same noise as mine?

AKS are going to try some of their magic spray on the starter motor in a couple of weeks so I'll do an update then.

It does sound like alternator pulley to be honest. Had a similar noise my self. Pull the aux belt off and start it, see if the noise goes.

Update - The expensive grease spray Alex used cured the squeak and it  is much easier on the ears now.  :happy2:

Alex gave me the part number a while ago and when I phoned TPS a couple of months ago it was £42  :rolleye:
Some others on here have used other grease I think but that spray is what VW use.
