Anyone know much on the central locking system on the Golf MK3.5 Cabrio?
Bought the car last weekend. Was told the air pump in the boot was unplugged because the previous owner couldn't get into the fuel filler cap. I plugged it in yesterday and came across an issue.
Symptoms - N/S and O/S doors won't unlock. I can hear the pump working.
Putting the key into the drivers lock to unlock and there's resistance turning the key the opposite way. Same on the Passenger door.
The boot doesn't seem to be connected and will only unlock using the key.
Holding the key to unlock activates the windows to drop. Turning and holding the key to lock raises the windows up as normal.
Any tips where to look?

First place I'd check is the wiring into the doors, these are easily damaged and can give some strange symptoms as I found out when I had my MK3 VR6.

Have you checked all the vac pipes are properly connected at the pump?

The pump is fine as that's where I plugged in the electronics as previous owner unplugged it.
I haven't taken the door cards off yet. That's on my list to do as the speakers ain't working. Only bought the car last weekend.

You might not need to take door cards off to check the wiring. It's possible to pull the rubber cover back to expose the wires....
