Just wondering what the best spacer to use for the rear of my GTI with genuine Monza 2's on standard suspension that won't rub but that will sit more flush with the rear arch?
Cheers
-
I think it's around 10mm
-
Superb - thanks!

Was thinking doing the same, would 15mm be to much?
-
I'm going 15mm front and rear.

For the rear you might get away with it, the fronts I highly doubt it especially if lowered.

When I get mine I'll let you know once lowered 20-35 mm depends what I get. unless someone beats me to it :signLOL:

I can tell you when I had those wheels and 8mm spacers with 225/40-18 tires...it would just clear the well arch but rub the inner liners when pushing it hard through twisty's or if bumps were present through them. Normal or sane driving was never a problem. I was lowered to about 25" ground to arch tops. You being at stock height should be able to be safe at 10mm. You can poke the tread out with more of a spacer than that, but if you push the rubber out to the arch edges or beyond...I would suggest a rear ARB to keep it more level through the curves to avoid contact.

@Dub love (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15825) how low?.

Think it's 25mm on the gti. So around 40mm. No rubbing.

I don't understand what you mean by 40mm?. are they 25mm or 40mm?.

A gti is already 15mm lower and springs are 25mm so 40mm

Lol now I get it :stupid:
The QS tt was 15mm lower than standard which looked like a tank until I lowered it by 40mm and it held its ground after that  need lowering and may even get the roll bar with uprated bushes for durability as well as firmness as you've mentioned it now :drinking:

And there's me thinking of fitting 15mm front and rear. yours looks close to the arch lip?.
-
I would say mines about bang on with no mods needed. You can go more on front but will have to do screw mod in middle of wing. I have no rubbing.

I have loads of speed bumps and some massive monster ones where I live but my tt 40mm lowered did manage quite well with 20mm front and 15mm rear spacers so thinking how bad can it be with 15mm all round with the golf?. can't be that bad surely?.
