Great news!
Shame about those arches!! :surprised:
-
thast great news. im mega into the BTCC never miss a race. good to see AMD have moved into here as well. they have a good basis as well from running the leons in the dunlop sportmaxx cup(think thats what it is called), so its not as if they have had to learn a new platform.
come on the VAGs in BTCC. is gordon shedden be in the leon again in april then
just read this in that link
The car is based on a MK5 VW Golf shell with a 2.0 16V normally aspirated power unit with a competitive 285bhp.

Has to be N/a for s2000 rules

Has to be N/a for s2000 rules
I actually never realised that, TBH i never looked to much into the engine regs. i just thought the car had to be readily available in show rooms to be a viable contender for the title, and no more than 300hp.
Engine
New S2000: Based on road-going unit with a minimum production of 2500 units. Maximum capacity 2000cc
Old BTCC: Based on a road-going unit with a minimum production of 2500 units. Engine can come from a different model in the range as long as its maximum capacity is 2000cc
Other engine regulations
New S2000: No turbocharging or forced induction. Engine block and cylinder head must be as fitted to standard production model
Old BTCC: No turbocharging or forced induction. Engine block and cylinder head must be as fitted to standard production model
Im presumin they are using the 2.0 FSI engine then
will change in 2011, new rules replacing S2000 ruling., cars will be turbo charged

those btcc volvos made volvos cool lol

Will be interesting to see how they get on, especially now that the manufacturer teams have gone. :happy2:
-
Great news....:congrats:
I lost a bit of interest in the BTCC over the last few years but will up for going to a race or two this year now :happy2:
-
last season was good, especially towards the end
the missus hates it, cos i sky plus the BTCC, and watch the F1, she hates motorracing lol
-
i've read that Pinkney and Jordan Jnr will be driving turbocharged Vectras in the 2010 BTCC campaign?
But the rule change is in 2011...wierd.
-
NGTC rules come in next year allowing turbo charged engines - There will be a "Generic" 2.0 turbo lump available to all teams to use rumored to be built by GM.
However some teams have been given dispensation to run the turbo units - Pinkney and Andrew Jordan are running vectras privately this year with the new turbo lumps.
Incidentally S2000 BTCC rules state the cars should be 4/5 Door - hence dynamics running the 5 door civic. They must have got dispensation from BTCC to run the 3 door chassis (like sunshine.co.uk have with their integras).
-
I doubt VW had anything to do with that car at all by the looks of it, I think it was built by a team for Swedish touring cars.. It would however be nice to see a factory VW presence in WTCC

Yep same as the AON Focus and the Dynamics Civic.

:driver:
I think its great for the sport to get a VW back in the public eye and would agree with jonny about VW having nothing to do with it. I never miss the BTCC as I think its what motorsport is all about. Dont get me wrong im also a massive F1, rally etc fan but nothing has me on the edge of my seat more that the goings on of the BTCC.
P.S im still supporting Plato FTMFW !

Been following them over on btcc.net - car is nearly built just waiting for the brakes finishing.
Excellent build blog on their website.
Had a bit of a chuckle at this also

+1. I actually like the colour scheme.
As for the buttons, KITT had everything except the missile launcher and machine guns.
-
Those arches have gonenew aero kit fitted now.
-
Anyone to recognise the brakes onn this car ? (they can be seen on one of the pics from the original post > Audi... but from what model are they ?)
-
The brake set up is by Alcon.
