Title: Timing chain help !!!
Post by: Markis236 on March 27, 2016, 06:03:02 pm
Ok guys been a while since I last posted but here's my problem. Ok so my mk5 golf gti 200ps engine code AXX was up for its timing belt so I decided I was going to go all out and do the belt and the chain for peace of mind. I wasent confident to do it my self so got a pall of my dad to do the job he is a macanic by trade and has never done a mk5 before and well my problem is when he to the cam chain casing off he broke 2 of the mettle rights that if I'm right direct oil to did rent parts of the head ? My problem is know where do I get the metal rings from as iv heard you need to buy the full cam casing witch cost a boom !

Any help would be greatly welcome as I have no car now !

I think he means the 3 sealing rings for the cam phaser.   They're plastic and break easily if the chain cover is not pulled off and pushed back on dead square.
