Title: Mk4 golf oversteer
Post by: Ricky123 on March 27, 2016, 11:36:33 pm
Evening chaps...

Bought a mk4 golf v5 of a mate of my brother in laws the other week. Got it really cheap and just had it sat there. Decided to take it for a spin tonight out of boredom, it's been slammed on cheap coilovers and is fitted with a recent set of toyo t1r tyres all round. I was spanking it about and came to a roundabout and the back end just flew round on me out of no where! Ended up facing the wrong way on the roundabout!
Never had it happen before in a mk4, usually get understeer. Was quite a laugh on the next few roundabouts now I expected it.

Anyone else experienced it in a mk4?

Nearly span my mk4 once, at 10mph in the snow..

Sounds a bit dodgy to me mate!

Rear arb??

I thought that. Rear end does feel really stiff.

Anything over 20mph while turning, let off and it's round. It's daft lol

Yep - had this on my mkiv once - it had an uprated rear ARB and standard on the front. Most of the time it was very good and predictable (did quite a few trackdays in it in the wet and never had an issue) - guess that one time I was just a bit too harsh on cold tyres...
