Looking to get back in a golf and considering a few different options.
1) Go back to a Pirelli/edition 30 and pocket some cash from the sale of my current car.
2 edition 35. Purely because I loved by Pirelli and wouldn't mind something a bit newer.
3. MK6 golf R. Always wanted one and they seem the best value for some reason out of my 3 choices.
ED35's are up for crazy money and to me a Golf R is the better car and worth a little more. ED30/pirelli's are also up at what I would say is the high end.
What's people's thoughts on the MK6 R?
Looks decent value to me..?

The price of the Golf R boggles me. For less money you can have an 8P3 S3, which is the same car with a premium badge. But each to their own.

Price is coming down on that one, was a couple of grand more a few months back when I was looking

The Audi 8P S3 is essentially a 2005 car even though the S3 was not released until 2007 I think, Even the 2012 cars are the same with just a facelift. They look dated inside IMO too and are quite bland styling wise.
The oldest 6R is 2010, The 6R is a much better looking car inside and out.
I could have bought an S3 but 6R is more exclusive and rarer.

I personally prefer the 6R too

The guys above have just answered it for me. I agree with you, the audi should be more desirable but it's not. I test drove one and found it bland. Golf wins on looks to.
I may go for a 5 door and the audi only does the sport back which I don't like.

Theres a couple for sale over on VW ROC forum might be worth a look

+1.

Got a 6R after selling my Edition 30 i'd never go back to front wheel drive, mine's at Stage2+ and it's a beast! Looked at a AUDI s3 sportback but the interior looked very dated and the Audio system looked like something out of the 90's!

In answer to your question regarding the Golf R you linked too, looks like a good spec for the money to me. As long as it's had it's DSG service on time then it's good however it's at the magical 60K mark where the cam belt needs replacing so that's something that'll need to be factored in when viewing it.

Thanks for the feedback. I've noticed a few for sale on VWRoc to.
Looks like a buyers market at the moment. Plenty of cars for sale and prices seem to have fallen recently to decent levels considering the age of the cars 2010-2012.
You do see the odd one though where people are asking stupid money for 2010 cars, like well over 20k plus.
The car I originally linked to looks decent value to me and it's a trader. Most private ads I see are asking for more.

You are right, The prices do seem to be all over the place. Some are just greedy!
I have agreed a price of £18K for mine if the sale goes through which I think looking at the market is fair, Bearing in mind I genuinely think mine is one of the better cars out there.
Not many get this level of attention...

I paid £21K for mine last year, but it was only 30K miles and 3 years old then. Realistically, now it's got another year and more miles under it's bonnet I'd probably ask for £17-18K for it (stock).

Saw one in my local VW dealer, 5dr manual, not sure on mileage but the leather seats looked to be well used, rcd510 and the black paint was covered in scratches
It was up for 18950
Always good to see prices holding :happy2: (unless you're looking to buy one)
