Title: Things i tried to get fixed under warranty
Post by: timmer on January 10, 2010, 01:14:35 pm
In case it helps, though i'd try my luck at getting a few things fixed under warranty:-

Took a look around the car looking for any issues (with warranty decision in brackets):
1. VW wheel caps had some slight corroding (replaced all 4)
2. VW logo completely erased (worn) from the key fob(s) (refused)
3. Passenger door speaker pops at loud volume (replace passenger door speakers)
4. Parcel shelf frame part unclipped near seatbelt (identified broken clip, part on order, going back in to be fixed)
5. Cup holder divider missing (refused)

Pretty happy although the key fob still looks rubbish - has anyone managed to solve this (don't really want to buy new fobs)?

You can buy the small badges from the Bay.

If it is just the badge you can get them and get a new one of ebay. There are different designs to. :happy2:

Edit- Beat me to it!

Were these done under new car warranty or user car warranty?

I asked Leeds VW to replace the centre caps (white worm) but was refused as its a used car warranty.

Is this a big problem?
Leaking or sticking?

I managed to get all 4 centre caps replaced, tried for new calipers but got refused, the paint was all faded and more brown than red, gonna have to paint them myself! also managed to get a complete backbox under warranty cos the exhaust tips were corroded, guess my dealer is a friendly one then! :notworthy:

Work was done as the car was coming up to 3 years old so presume coming to the end of the original VW warranty. I have another 3 years to run on an additional used warranty which may, as you've found, be difficult to get items replaced. Can't see why they would make a distinction though.

My sunglasses holder is not staying closed and I think I might have condensation in a rear light - will check in better weather. Wonder if these are covered on the 3 yr warranty.

They also charged me £27 to check my ABS. When I break hard or in bad conditions. The pedal goes crazy. Moving up and down. Didnt feel right to me. Went in my moms mini and made the abs kick in and it didnt feel the same.
VW conclusion was it is normal.
Does anybody else pedal do the same?

Mine is the same Ollie. My ABS seems over sensitive to me, but i have not done anything about it.  :happy2:

Good to know it is not just me. VW say it is what is supposed to happen! Still feels weird to me!   :rolleye:

I don't think it's entirely the ABS you're feeling, the cars also have EBD.  I notice on my when I lock a wheel the pedal pushes back at my foot.

When its happened to me Stu, its been under heavy braking but not enough to lock the wheels in my opinion, and it gives the usual funny ABS sound of it grabbing what feels like a loose disc. It basically feels like its coming on unnecessarily.  :surprised:
