I had the car for 8 days early in 2009 (Feb). I found the car to be badly set up for the UK road, this was agreed with by Mark Farmer (Ex VWR) and Matt Walker (Current VWR).
The Suspension was too harsh for everyday roads, this has been sorted by the fitting of some more compliant suspension. It was also too low for the speed humps encountered en route.
The Map was awful, nothing below 3-3500 RPM, then warp drive opened up and unleashed all its ponies, the car now is running a revised map, just as quick I believe, but a much more road suitable power delivery.
The Brakes were good, if a little grabby, when cold, the car was treated to a set of pads post my week. As prior to me collecting it, it was used for the EVO video the day before at Bedford, by Roger Green, and the brakes had been given a right pasting. In fact Mark Farmer was removing the track wheels when I arrived.
I had to fill it with oil on the way home too! It was off the bottom of the Dipstick.
In short I found it to be a track focused car, and not suitable for the UK roads. This was borne out in the subsequent conversations I had with Mark and Matt, and by the amount of changes that took place.
I believe the Car in current guise is far better suited to daily driving.
My 2p.

They set it up like that to advertise what they are about. I for one loved like it was, it was not my own car so it was no problem to put up with it for a while being track focused. All the more fun i say

Tom I realise that, but when the service manager agrees it may not be the best advert of their capabilities with road cars......
:happy2:
-
The same service manager asked me the same questions and i said the ride felt fine, and he agreed.
The car was not perfect but the ride quality was pretty good i thought. It certainly was not harsh. :happy2:
-
i only had a short drive in her, but didnt find the drive to bad at all. no more bumpy than mine id have said. torque steered though on the wet bumpy road i drove it on. the only thing i wasnt sure of is the engine mounts. not sure i coud have dealt with them ful time, although it was nice for that short period
-
This is just what the world turns on ............... Differing views.
Please bear in mind I drove it nearly a year ago for the first time.
Off topic - how are those anchors TC?

A little grabby at low speeds and even the service manager DaveB agreed not best for the roads.
Only kiddin, they are really good so far, the car has only moved once since the start of December, so they have really only had one good workout to date.
I am confident that they are far better than what VW sold me. :happy2:
