Hi all.
After a full service inc cam follower in feb, then cambelt and mot last week, I thought the car -and expenses- were sorted for a good while. Bollocks, front broken spring today. Local garage have quoted 85 plus vat for vag part which is a lot. Can anyone recommend a quality alternative? I don't want to lower so looking for standard replacement part, nothing Chinese or other cheap alternative!
Is the ed30 the same as a standard gti? I read somewhere it sat slight lower?
Thanks for the help!

Both GTI and Ed. 30 share the same springs (just the DSG and manual cars have specific springs).
Eibach doesn't sell Pro-Kits for GTI/Ed. 30 or I'd recommend those springs. There are just the Sportlines that do lower the ride.

Thanks mate. So the dsg and manual spec springs are the difference -not the ed30/gti specs.
Just out of interest why is this?

Due to weight, the DSG is heavier on the front end so it has stiffer springs to compensate.

cool. mine is a dsg if that helps with any ideas!

I'm not contending that they are not identical but my edition 30 front springs Have coloured dots yellow yellow pink blue. My old mk5 Gti front springs were green green red blue. Both rear springs had the same matching dots and both cars were manual. The eddy does feel a lot stiffer and doesn't like bumpy roads as much. Any one know what the coloured dots are for ?

My Ed. 30 has DSG and the OEM springs are yellow/pink(or red)/blue dots.
If you check ETKA there are 4 options available for GTI:
-red/red/grey/grey
-yellow/white/yellow
-yellow/white/yellow/yellow
-yellow/white/orange
Each combination has a PR code associated (you can check the PR code list on the boot floor sticker or owner's manual). I don't know more about it.

Ok thanks will have a look. If staying OEM I'd be buying springs from the main dealers they will sort the correct springs, with correct Spring rates for your car.

Seconded. Are the prices I quoted realistic guys?
