The ED30 is 8 this year and has covered 42k miles, always serviced at VW Main dealer, Would anyone mind telling me what I can expect or require this year . Its DSG as well. I fitted new tyres a while ago and wiper blades but I am guessing it requires everything so what will it cost this year plus the MOT.
I also thought it may be prudent to replace the Battery as its original and I can't remember the RNS Code , I can swap the Battery but if I have to put the code in ill be stuffed
FWIW I have mailed my local VW dealer for advice and prices

Unless you have got any problems with the car then you are looking at a normal Service charge from VW. Think Interim is £170, not sure about a Major Service.
Also has it had a DSG Service yet and supposed to be done every 40k so if not then that is due. VW charge £179 for this

Ask about offers too. They always have offers. My DSG was less than £100 on offer.
Also unless the battery is playing up, leave it. There's no point doing preventative maintenance unless you've been told to or something is obviously wrong.

When was the timing belt last changed ?
-
Hi Scooba is this the red ED30? That's pretty good mileage for a an 8 year old car
-
Hi Rob ,
Yes the red one !.
Cam belt and water pump was changed at 4 or 5 years.
-
Just had a quick search
MOT £55 , Brake Fluid £59, DSG oil and filters £179 , Major Service £329, Cam belt and water pump £479, total £1101 , assuming it all needs doing what sort of discount should I ask for ?
I am awaiting a call to confirm what they thinks required and I'm happy to pay but only if its needed
-
Interested to know their discounts too :P

I may be wrong but thought cambelt etc was done at 60k recommended so if you have had done already and car only 40kish then should not need that doing again

Cambelt is also time dependent and the interval is around 4 years I believe. Either way that price is steep for a cambelt, search around but VW dealers have done it for around £350ish before (including the water pump).
Re the RNS code, you shouldn't need to put it in if you change the battery over quickly. At least that was the case with mine when I switched the battery over. Whenever I've had the battery off for more than 5 minutes or so it asks for the code. But if the battery is fine right now, there's no point replacing it. We're into spring now, so if it's survived the winter then it'll have no problems in the summer.

VW have also been known to price match mate, if you get a quote from an independent based on original parts
-
Inchcape dealers have cambelt/waterpump offer on website £349, ask your dealer to price match if it required, (every 4 years).
Also use skoda/seat service prices for price match as they are cheaper.

Yea...Inchcape...good luck with getting a quote from these jokers, never mind an actual booking...
4 emails no reply...over 2 weeks...

There are lots of things you could have changed that VW do not consider standard service items such as the fuel filter, PCV, DV and cam follower.
I'd recommend as well taking the car to a specialist like AKS Tuning rather than a VW main dealer.

Not used them myself, I just used the price on the website to get my dealer to match it as it was cheaper to a specialist near me.

Today , They say Major Service @ £329, DSG oil and filter @ £210 , MOT £55 OR £594
-
I dont know where they get 329 for a major service from. Total rip off.
-
I had a look on VW Fixed price servicing it said DSG Service £179 , the email from my dealer said £210 , could I have looked at a old service menu?
-
Well , Booked in for MidMay , full service,DSG service ,MOT Collect and return free wash and vac £498 happy with that !

I got my belt & waterpump done at Inchcape last month for £350. The deal might be finished now. But if it's still on their website, they should honour it. It included the auxiliary belt too. I just called phoned them to arrange. Email seems to be rather hit & miss with garages.
